Per the Coach's survey in SAILING WORLD Magazine, for the first time in the history of Fordham Sailing, our Coed team has received recognition in the National Rankings. Our Women's team was ranked 18th nationally a few years ago but a Coed ranking is much more difficult to attain since there are app. four times as many schools fielding Coed vis-a-vis Women's teams.
Fordham is ranked 28th nationally out of app. 211 colleges and universities in the country. The Top 20 are:
1. Yale 2. Roger Williams 3. St. Mary's 4. Boston College 5. Georgetown 6. Brown 7. Charleston 8. Harvard 9. U. S. Naval Academy 10. Vermont * 11. Hobart/William Smith 12. Tufts 13. Boston University * 14. South Florida 15. Old Dominion 16. Washington College 17. Dartmouth 18. Stanford 19. Connecticut College 20. Salve Regina
The other colleges/universities mentioned in order of votes received were:
21. Miami (FL) * 22. Babson * 23. MIT 24. New York Maritime College 25. U. S. Coast Guard Academy 26. Rhode Island * 27. U. S. Merchant Marine Academy 28. Fordham *
There are no national rankings for Club teams (*) but if there were, we would be ranked sixth in the country. The top two, Vermont & BU have professional coaches. I don't know about Miami, Babson & URI.
This is a credit to our student-athletes and the hard work and dedication, which they have invested to make this happen. Congratulations to all of them.
