I thought Bronx Kid's post was in jest. A reply to a way too literal reading of the second part of the thread title.
It's hard to come to that conclusion, since he's talking about many of the same people others have been mentioning. Now, if he talked about only those who were truly indisposed, then his humor would've been evident.

AOC---whether Grasso is ready to be a head coach or not remains to be seen. But he has given us hope with the recruits he has brought in.If we can add a coule of pieces to the foundation of frosh and sophs we have there may be a light at the end of the tunnel
If it remains to be seen, that tells me he's not viable for this job. Fordham needs someone who has been through the wars. There are few jobs in the country more difficult than this one. I'm not sure where he stands as a recruiter. Jio seems to be the best of the bunch, no doubt. The rest continue to be suspects, except for the ones who are non-qualifiers. We seem to do an excellent job bringing them in.

Unless there's a major scandal that requires a school to sweep the entire coaching staff out, an interim coach is almost always drawn from the existing staff. So drafting a list of possible interim coaches from outside the program would be a waste of time.
Now, if Fordham were to go to Grasso as an interim coach, it would effectively be telling the more senior Travis Lyons "you're not fired yet, but guess what?"
It's premature. Part of the purpose of this year is to see if DW can rehabilitate himself. Too soon to say. The first 2 games weren't promising, but the third was better, and the next installment comes on Saturday.

I would not be so quick to say Jio is the best of the bunch---Gaston has been arguable our best player so far this year, and he is a freshman. I like our freshman class so far. I am very impresed with Gaston and fahro...and Melicn and Thompson seem like they wil be solid peices.

Danny Hurley played at Seton Hall. Bobby was the Duke pg.
Yeah, I realized that in the middle of the night . Still better pedigree than NC State I'd argue.

Gaston certainly seems to have a nose for the ball and tenacity around the basket. His big test will be in the games against quality front line players. Same with Fahro. Just not enough of a sample to have a good take on this team yet.

Well there are two lists: one for jesting and jousting here on this board and one to give to McShane in a nice envelope addressed jointly to him and the BOT, for the sole purpose not to do the hiring for them, but to get them off their indecisive rear ends and get on with the show.
As difficult as this job is at Fordham, I bet they would be flooded with resumes from interested parties. Particularly if Grank is gone or being sent out to retirement pasture with a nice gold (faux) rolex watch they picked up on 5th Ave.

Here's a few, in no particular order:
Fran Fraschilla (solid Brooklyn Gym Rat with NCCA success) Jeff van Gundy (has won at MSG) PJ Carlesimo (takes punishment including strangling) Old Nick (excellent record of getting into post-season) Steve Lappas (can easily rebuild & recruit) Al McGuire (Queens legend) Tom Pecora (very knowledgeable) Travis Lyons (He's no cost) Frank McGuire (Big time recruiter; uses the train system) Pat Reilly (Bronx attitude & Greenwich home owner) Bobby Gonzalez (animal) Joey Nesci (NYU hero)
Too late Frank McGuire died about 15 years ago, Al McGuire 10 years ago How about NYC native Bobby Cremins?

Lyons has about as much chance as either McGuire. He doesn't belong even close to this list. Surely, it was added for comedy, right?

Joey Nesci (NYU hero)
Nesci was one of my high school gym teachers. Calling him "Joey" back then would NOT have been a good idea.

On third reading, you're right Ace. I didn't get into the humorous spirit of the post.

Let's see how it all plays out. We're 1-2 against bad teams. I will always take the win but at some point results do matter, don't they?

Guys please we dont need these retreads with big names from 10 years ago.. PJ carlisimo, Lappas??? cmon we dont need these guys to come in here and think they can get by on reputation from the past (ie "the bad coach") anyone remember him?? These guys come in and think that recruits will line up to play for them because they coached in the NBA or did well 15 years ago or had an assist for jimmy V;s NC state team.. Its not what we need.. We need a young big east assistant or young head coach at a MAAC or CAA that will come to Fordham and bust his butt to recruit and bring energy to Fordham.. I posted a thread a few days ago For Steve Mosiello a louisville assistant who has local ties to AAU programs in the city ... Its guys like this that we need ,, we dont need a retread big name from 15 years ago to make us feel good about ourselves.. I think Frank thinks he needs a name like wittenburg and hill or lappas to make people think that hes doing a god job ,, when he can just hire a young hungry coach .. Jay wright was not a well known coach before hofsrta,,, anyone remember when Paul Hewitt was hired at Siena?? these are the kind of guys we need ,, not Jeff Van Gundy who
