Alright, we’re one into the win column with a win against Sacred Heart. On the road now to their Nutmeg State neighbors in Hartford. Probably our best chance to beat a team named the Hawks this year and of our first taste of .500 in a very long time.
The team played well on Wednesday, though with the inevitable freshman growing pains. Hartford will be a tougher test. They lost to Quinnipiac by eleven and at the buzzer to Baylor. They almost doubled up on Marist, so they are playing better. They have had some good (local) press for their chances this year, largely due to their young coach Dan Liebovitz and to the implosion at America East rival Bingham-“Don’t-call-me-Binghampton”-ton.
Hartford had a pre-season rep as good defenders and rebounders, the type of team that has given us headaches whatever the overall quality of our opponent. Hopefully our program has discovered the virtues of moving without the ball and working it down low. Relying on perimeter shooting will be a feast or famine proposition. With Thanksgiving coming up I don’t want us playing the role of turkey, so guys, create passing opportunities, don’t hang around the three point line waiting for the shot clock to wind down.
Sagarin ranks Hartford #278 with a rating of 65.94. Fordham is now at #252 rated at 67.36. On paper that’s evenly matched with the home court edge to the Hawks, but the proof is in the pudding.

How will WFUV handle the football and basketball games, both scheduled for this Saturday afternoon?

They discussed it during Wednesday's games, but I do not recall the exact details. At some time, perhaps the beginning the later game, they will switch coverage. I believe both games will be streamed, though there will also be a switch involved. Check the website for exact details. I'm on the road tomorrow, so I can only maybe get the radio coverage.

Btw, here's the sports website for Hartford: http://www.hartfordhawks.com/Just putting this out there as a comparison to ours. We need to get better web developers. This is where money should be spent.

WFUV will broadcast the first hour of the GW game and then switch over, at 2 PM, to the basketball game, ..... LIVE, ... from Hartford, Connecticut !

Sports blogs often confuse stupidity with edginess. Just because I can call someone a name, doesn’t mean I’m insightful, or tough and edgy. It just means I’m a jerk. It’s a high tech place for what idiots used to do on bar stools, in school yards, and on gas station bathroom walls. - Bob Costas

Rams haven't scored since I last posted; 12 -5 Hartford.
Either I need to post more or not at all.
And now Tanner is in....

Sickening. He immediately missed two shots and got called for a foul. The kid is awful. This is the second straight game we didn't make a field goal in between the under 16 and under 12 timeouts.

The video quality is excellent but there is incredible static and loud noise in background. This Hartford team is very physical. One positive I thought Gordon showed some toughness there, bodied up twice with that load that was going down low. Nice block then a homie foul call.
