Don't look now, but the men's soccer team is 4-0 in A-10 play and 7-5-1 overall.  Two of the A-10 victories have been in OT which really comes as on surprise given that they have played fairly tight games all season.  Nice to see them putting the ball in the back of the net with a little more regularlity, but this team is clearly built on defense and goalkeeping.

Big test this coming weekend as they travel to traditionally two of the toughest teams in the A-10.  At St. Louis on Friday and at Charlotte on Sunday.

Here's hoping Coach McElderry and the boys can keep it going!

Nothing replaces success in the revenue sports.  Nothing.  That's not to take away from the success in the Olympic sports - they do matter.  It isn't a replacement for success in the flagship sports.

I unfortunately have not had the chance either and likely won't.

After a bit of a slow start, it's great to see the game results lately.  Is especially good to see a Fordham men's team do well.
Given that my daughter's alma mater, SMU is having an off year and won't make their usual top 10, I guess I can turn my attention to and cheer a little harder for my own alma mater in soccer then.
Our successful "secondary" sports and players don't get the attention they deserve.  Thanks for pointing that out Ace.

Nice turn around after a rough start. Did they have injuries early in year?

My Irish neighbor who is a highly respected soccer coach from the other side speaks glowingly of McElderry. Is this a year we can win the A-10?

Lost 4-1 @St. Louis

Tied 2-2 @Charlotte.  Charlotte is ranked #9 in the country and we were down 2-1 with 3 minutes to go in regulation when we tied it.  Hard to get too excited over a tie, but this is one that might be worthy.

This keeps us in 1st place in the A10.

Remaining schedule:
10/30 vs. St. Joseph's (currently 13th in A10)
11/1 vs. Temple (5th)
11/8 vs. La Salle (14th)

While that's a favorable schedule, even if we win out we might not finish in 1st place b/c St. Louis and Dayton who are both just 1 point behind us have played one less game.
