1  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: WBB vs Bucknell on: Today at 05:35:09 pm
Cavanaugh had 22, Holden 14, Davis 13, Goulding 10.

Davis missed another double double getting only 9 boards.

We shot better from 3 (67%) than we did from the line (59%), which was an oddity, but e shot 75% in the 2nd half.  Our total shooting % was 52% while Bucknell shot 49%.

Assists:TO's were 14 all.

Coach again went primarily with 5 players, with a sprinkling of Heremaia.  Bucknell had 2 bench points to our 6.

We're 7-3 and have the big game Wed night at home vs UCLA.

2  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / WBB vs Bucknell on: Yesterday at 11:35:42 am
Game time is Sunday at 2 pm at home.

Bucknell comes in with a matching 6-3 record, but that includes a loss to St. Joe's by 24 and a win over Iona by 7, whom we beat by 30.

Our Junior, Lauren Holden leads the nation in minutes played with 41.3 minutes while Senior G'mrice Davis leads the nation in rebounds with 14.6 per game.

Red shirt freshman Bre Cavanaugh was A10 Rookie of the Week even before her outstanding 20 point performance vs St. Johns.

Lately, Coach Steph has had a limited lineup, primarily going with Davis, Holden, Cavanaugh, (JR) Goulding and (FR) Klug.  Steph pulled (FR) Heremaia quickly vs St. Johns after 2 TOs and poor defense and gave her an earful about the latter.  She used (FR) Jillings (only) defensively for Klug late the in St. Johns game.   Goulding has had 17, 13, 11,and 12 points in her four games as she works back from injury and has shown a lot of strength on the boards.  We needed her experience back in the lineup.

I'm sure we're all looking forward to UCLA coming in next Wed, but we need to put Bucknell away Sunday.

Yep, softball has had 16 winning seasons (since Bridget's 2nd), 15 32+ win seasons, 6 A10 championships (5 consecutive), and 7 NCAA births since 2010, the year we finished ranked #27.  It all started under Frank, but Roach has given the team a lot of support.

I don't cover them much on here but swimming has quietly been good, especially the women.  They've only had 1 season since 2006 with more than 2 losses.  Pretty good for swimming in a pool not built to regulation length because of bedrock.

ESPN3 coverage as excellent. Announcers stuck to calling the game not their favorite music.
Yep, Watts is good and can call multiple sports well.  A WFUV alum.
6  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: WBB vs St Johns on: December 12, 2017, 09:34:15 pm
Cavanaugh with 20, Klug 14, Goulding 12, Davis 11, Holden 8.  Davis and Goulding had double doubles.

St. Johns averages in the mid-70's in regulation and we held them to 53.

Cavanaugh is starting to fulfill her reputation.

We're 6-3 and next play Bucknell at home on Sunday.
7  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: WBB vs St Johns on: December 12, 2017, 09:28:17 pm

Rams with the ball but down by 1 with 1 minute to go.

Cavanaugh layup puts us up by 1 but she then missed a FT.

40 seconds.
9  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: WBB vs St Johns on: December 12, 2017, 09:11:27 pm
2nd overtime.  Tied at 61.

I picked the right game to watch.
10  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: WBB vs St Johns on: December 12, 2017, 09:04:47 pm
Tied at 58 with 2 minutes to go in OT.  Davis has 4 fouls.

61-61 with a minute to go as each team makes a 3, SJU rebounding their previously missed shot.
11  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: WBB vs St Johns on: December 12, 2017, 08:54:02 pm
A missed 3 and 2 missed inside shots by us and a missed 3 at the buzzer by them sends it to OT.

We've primarily only used 5 players except for a few minutes when Davis sat in foul trouble, and an occasional Jillings for Klug on defense.
12  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: WBB vs St Johns on: December 12, 2017, 08:47:35 pm
Tied at 53 with 1 minute to go.

TO by Davis but Cavanaugh draws a charge.  40 seconds.

Rams down 41-40 after 3.

Klug with 14 points.  Davis only has 6 and 3 fouls.

We're not getting back on defense.

Holden having trouble guarding England, who has 13 points.

Tavares 0-6
18  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: WBB vs St Johns on: December 12, 2017, 07:46:09 pm
Rams down 27-22 at the half.  Klug with 7 points.  Davis only has 4 and is on the bench with 2 fouls trying to guard Singleton, who has 9 points.

We're shooting 35% and 29% from 3 to SJU's 44% and 29%.  Too many offensive rebounds for St. Johns.
19  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: WBB vs St Johns on: December 12, 2017, 07:21:09 pm
Rams up 13-10 after 1 quarter.  Scoring spread out evenly over 6 players.

Mike Watts doing the announcing.  Much better than Ducey.
20  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / WBB vs St Johns on: December 12, 2017, 06:23:09 pm
The only offensive stat we are better them at is FT %.  We have our work cut out.

Game time 7 pm tonight.
21  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Men's Soccer Finish Ranked 11th on: December 12, 2017, 04:07:23 pm
In the final United Soccer Coaches Poll, we finished ranked 11th in the country.  Great job!  From not being ranked.

By the way, Indiana beat UNC 1-0 after our loss to UNC.  Stanford then beat Indiana 1-0.

Ideally, I'd like a little more time for the freshmen to gel and improve before playing UCLA, but they are getting better, and you're right, Steph does an excellent job of coaching, both the mental and physical aspects of the game.  I enjoy watching them play more than our men.  Their skills are less, but they play smart basketball.

Embarrassing, ugly win.  Should have been a rout.

27  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Fordham vs. St. Francis - PreGame/InGame 12/9, 3pm on: December 09, 2017, 03:50:17 pm
What on earth is this announcer talking about here?
Ducey likes to talk jibberish and about his athletic prowess (in high school and intramurals).
28  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: WBB vs. Iona 12/9 on: December 09, 2017, 02:42:24 pm
Coach Steph emptied the bench in the 4th quarter.

We won 78-48.  We're 5-3 and Iona is 0-8.

We shot 49% and 28% from 3.  75% from the line.  We out rebounded them 44-27.  We only had 6 TOs (a season low) and 20 assists when we usually have 20 TOs.

Davis wound up with 26 points and 16 boards.  Cavanugh had 14 points; Goulding 11.

29  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: WBB vs. Iona 12/9 on: December 09, 2017, 02:28:53 pm
Ducey isn't good at any sport he does.  How did he ever get a job at SI?  (family member influence?)

Davis is having two games worth of stats.  24 points and 15 boards after 3 quarters.

Rams up 60-29 after 3.  Iona is 0-7 and one can see why.
30  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: WBB vs. Penn State on: December 06, 2017, 10:48:24 pm
Coach said we had tired legs at the end; they had more depth; we missed FTs; we had open shots but missed them.
