Along with Class of 2018 SG Alan Griffin and Class of 2019 C Joel Soriano, Fordham is now recruiting Archbishop Stepinac's 5' 11" Class of 2020 PG R.J. Davis. He has been offered by LaSalle, UMass and Manhattan.

Its a catch 22. If the school cant talk about recruits, and it appears that some people want definite info on real recruits,  then this would be a blank thread, since you could really on verify it from the staff.

Correct. The information here is helpful because every player I post about has been contacted by Fordham. It's amusing that someone would come here to complain when they have never provided any recruiting information themselves.
3  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Recruiting Update on: September 24, 2017, 08:33:24 am
I'm sure one can troll the internet and social media and find plenty of "Fordham coaches are watching Basketball Jones" at some tournament, and "Fordham has offered Hoops Smith from such-and-such school".  The information is interesting, but without context, not terribly helpful. Now, if we get some information about who the coaching staff considers a top priority, or which player might be seriously looking at Fordham -- much more helpful. Obviously, that information may not always be available, although other programs' fans seem to have a better handle on who they're pursuing than Fordham does.

Start with the fact that our coaches cannot talk specifics to alums about recruits - it's an NCAA violation. I get my info here from a few guys I know who run recruiting report services for college coaches and another source and only have the time to do that - barely. If you don't find the information "terribly helpful," I invite you to do the research to provide a deeper context. That would be "helpful."

"+1000" for the Wizard of Oz behind the curtain.

This is not a HS basketball thread. Stay on topic.

I (and others) object to you hijacking it with scores of names that are
A) not considering Fordham
B) not being offered
C) never visiting

Stay on topic.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Stick with placing odds on our games - that's your area of expertise.

Yeah what he said.

No disrespect but if a kid never comes on campus (unless he is a foreigner), I find it very unlikely that they are ever wearing the a Rams uni.  Can we please only list kids that actually have a reciprocal interest in us?

I don't have ESP so the answer would be no. I post what I know. Lucky to be able to do that. Please start posting here if you have more info than I do.

I think you're correct when you look at what we are up against right now in the A-10, but I would still like to see some Freshmen from high school come here for a full 4 year Fordham experience.  Not all good ones leave before 4 years and if we get a good one for 3 years, that's not bad.

Right now we are involved with many high school/prep players, so posting this is important recruiting news since we have a relatively new staff that has recently become established. Jucos and transfers are always in the mix but this usually comes much closer to signing time.

"petermartin" is the last person who should state what is "appropriate" in this string since he has never posted one player here first who we signed. I will continue to post as I have and there will be significant recruiting news that you see here from me, as there has been since I started this string many years ago.

Not exactly a powerhouse, but most of the schools recruiting him were low-majors, ivies, etc.

Think he will be very good at American. Has some talent.

12  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Story on Former Ram Jermaine Anderson on: September 11, 2017, 08:15:57 am
It would be fun to get him down for a game this season, while two of his countrymen grace our roster.

Agreed. That would be a nice gesture. He is a gentleman and is revered in Canadian basketball circles.

Keep an eye on scoring point guard Matt Brand, Class of 20, from Archbishop Stepinac HS in White Plains. Manhattan has offered him and we are involved, as are Cal-Berkeley, GW and St. Bonaventure.

No. Foley is at Temple and Breiner at Fordham. Breiner is definitely not Foley.

I can confirm that.

Ignoring an inane question.

I'm surprised we haven't had more guys end up in the CFL. Tad Kornegay had an incredible CFL career with multiple championships. I'm sure he'd tell you its a great way to make a living.

+1.
24  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: P. Odom - Pro Day/NFL Draft Outlook on: August 31, 2017, 12:26:15 pm
Saw this coming with the Steelers trading for a TE in the past few days. The coaching staff is/was not impressed with the talent they had on their team. Hopefully Odom can find another team to give him a look. Perhaps a team that is already established at TE and would be interested in a long term project. Giants are too crowded in that position. Teams like the Seahawks and Cowboys come to mind. not sure of their depth though.

CFL?
25  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Recruiting Update on: August 30, 2017, 01:14:40 pm
That's 16 offers for next year (4 points, 4 shooting guards, 3 wings, 3 power forwards and 1 center), 3 for 2019 so far, and 1 for 2020.  We seem pretty active.

Vasquez is pretty good.  Averaged over 20 a game, and had 37 in John Bowne's Queens PSAL championship win.  He made 34% from 3 on the year, 55% from 2, and in the championship game when he wasn't hitting from outside he used his burly frame to get inside:

   http://www.news12varsity.com/brooklyn-bronx/john-bowne-captures-first-psal-queens-borough-title-1.1850533

Yes, he is very physical. A tough, talented NYC kid - I'll take it!

Still not listed on the Fordham official roster (so what else is new)
http://www.fordhamsports.com/roster.aspx?path=mbball

but is mentioned in the A10 Season Preview by a10Talk
http://www.a10talk.com/fordham-rams-full-2017-18-season-preview/

SS, he cannot be listed on the roster until he is enrolled. He just arrived.
29  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Recruiting Update (Football) on: August 27, 2017, 01:14:08 pm
Two Questions:

1) He's eligible  to play this season, correct?
2) How many years of eligibility does he have in total?

As a transfer from an FBS program to an FCS one, I believe he is eligible to play right away. And given his redshirt year, I believe he will have three years of eligibility.
30  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Recruiting Update (Football) on: August 27, 2017, 12:20:14 pm
It's confirmed that Austin King has transferred to Fordham from Indiana.

He's a 6' 2", 190 lb. dual threat QB who was also recruited by West Virginia, South Florida and NC State. He redshirted for a year and then was on the roster for a year at Indiana.
