1  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: 2017 Predictions on: Yesterday at 04:33:15 pm
My guess, 9-2, which would be great, 10-1 exceptional, 8-3 good. We are getting spoiled. To me, key is winning one game versus Army, EWU & Lehigh. Best chance Lehigh, second best EWU. This Army team is a stretch unless they had  lotsa losses to graduation. Before someone calls me out my other "person A" is Captain Obvious".
2  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: NCAA Men's Basketball Committee Will Place Greater Emphasis on Road Wins on: July 16, 2017, 06:04:46 pm
I state unequivocally that this change will not diminish our chance for a bid

4  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: Fordham's Nick Martinez on: June 26, 2017, 08:03:34 am
I was hoping he would end up with a no decision.
That would have been a perfect outcome.
5  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: Fordham's Nick Martinez on: June 25, 2017, 04:20:34 pm
Nick did well thru 4, no runs. Gave up 4 in the fifth, but first finished inning and left ahead 7-4. Mixed emotions  big Yankee fan but rooting for Nick
6  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: All time best Fordham Starting five on: May 29, 2017, 09:33:23 am
Here's a thought: Burik, Mainor, Charles, Yelverton and take your pick of Woytowicz, Zambetti and Sullivan was a Sweet 16 team and fell short of a perfect regular season by 3 points. If you saw them play you understand. If not, you can't.
Are you sure above the3 longs, we lost to Teple and Marquette
7  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: All time best Fordham Starting five on: May 26, 2017, 04:47:16 pm
Danny bounced around the NBA for years.  Mostly 10 day contracts, but still impressive.  Speaks to the quality of our late 80s early 90s teams.  Everyone remembers Damon as an all time great at center, but one of our few and most recent representatives in the NBA often gets overlooked.
Enjoyed watching Danny play. Played for Utah & Nets at a minimum in NBA. Great heart. Great hands not so great stamina. Didn't know him, but from what I heard, great teammate
8  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Recruiting Update on: May 17, 2017, 11:22:59 am
We wouldn't need to waste a scholarship on him. He would've went to Fordham for free.
The tuition is free but not the board.

NY Post reports Pasquale Rigoletto pled guilty to 3 counts of extortion. 2 plumbers and a priest believe it or not. Expected sentence is 5-7
10  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Memorial Field stadium on: May 15, 2017, 10:46:24 am
I grew up three block from this location in Pelham Manor.  My elitist, snob neighbors would NEVER let that much traffic come through their town.

WONT HAPPEN.

Exactly, when Mt Vernon was having major development around the field, Target, Best Buy etc., Pelham Manor fought them tooth and nail, to no avail.  Bit of trivia, the "Mean Joe Green" commercial where Joe emerges from a tunnel looking down at a fball field and hands his jersey to a kid was filmed there.  Also Fordham has played a football game there, versus Iona the year before we move to the Patriot League.
11  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Memorial Field stadium on: May 14, 2017, 04:32:38 pm
Did we sell 15,000 at Yankee Stadium?  No FBS anyone cares about is playing at Fordham.  Focus on improving JCF game day and we'll be better off.  Move baseball off campus, put 2500 seats on the other side, make a decent front entrance and take it from there. you could make a decent little stadium that would serve quite nicely for a few million.
just wondering, not arguing. What is wrong with the entrance to JCF
12  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Why the RHG is to be Named for McGlaughlin on: May 12, 2017, 09:10:06 am
We all seem to be in agreement that this is a bad idea. Let me offer an alternative . RHG needs a bathroom. During Frank's tenure the bball program was mostly in the toilet. A perfect match.
13  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: A10 Incoming/Outgoing List 2017-18 on: May 08, 2017, 03:08:19 pm
Played for Tabor Academy thru 2012-13, then did 2 years at Brewster in NH.
What crime was he convicted of when he "did 2 years at Brewster in NH"?  Wink
14  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: How Others Get Students To games on: May 01, 2017, 02:26:07 pm
Offer a raffle ticket for every game you attend. Once new plans for an arena are announced, we pull a raffle ticket and the winner gets to push the button that blows up the RHG.

Or first prize is a weekend with Frank, second prize, two weekends.
15  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: P. Odom - Pro Day/NFL Draft Outlook on: April 24, 2017, 06:52:27 am
I remember Frank Thomas (is that the right name?) giving FB a shot after a great hoops career at Fordham.  He was absolutely huge.  Started out at TE with supposed NFL interest and soon was put in as a punt and kick blocking specialist only.  For a long time the NFL and college teams have been looking to pilfer kids from other sports but it doesn't usually work out imo.  Frank was a very nice guy btw.
You may be referring to Frank Williams.  We had a bball player gain a starting spot as a db with the NY Giants.  I believe his name is Ken Parker.

Transferring Notre Dame wing Matt Ryan will take an official to Cal-Berkeley beginning Monday night after also hitting Vanderbilt. His dad said he’s also considering Georgetown and George Washington…Zagoria 4-18-17 (   ( ( Notice NO mention of FORDHAM )
Cal Berkeley really. Perhaps he is an anarchist.  Did you see the news earlier this week.

" . . .  Kull was the driving force behind record-breaking revenue growth from 2013?2016.  [Italics mine]

DOES ANYBODY AT FORDHAM EVER PROOFREAD ANYTHING THEY SEND OUT???

Perhaps Ted Mack could lend them an hour to help.
How about getting Warren Beatty & Faye Dunaway to proof read the releases.
19  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: How Do We Finish in Conference? on: February 22, 2017, 01:32:50 pm
The case for Coach Neu is strengthened by all the injuries we've had, JC missing games, etc. I think what he's done in the last half of the season so far is remarkable. Our team comes to win every game now. He's instilled confidence with the players and done some nice X & O work.
Amazing what can be accomplished when a coach actually coaches.
20  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: RHG renovations on: February 07, 2017, 02:03:47 pm
Didn't Frank get a reward sometime ago similar to artificial turf something when he redid the fball field.  The court naming ranks right up there the  turf award.  Just when you think Fordham can not be that stupid, they prove you wrong.
21  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Defensive staff movements on: February 01, 2017, 09:48:14 am
Nice rebound for Andrew after being remosed from the $20 bill.
22  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Tracking Our Committed/Signed Recruits (Football) on: January 18, 2017, 01:12:03 pm
So far no recruits from Florida, wonder if we still try down there.  On the other hand several from Ohio, fertile ground for talent.

Sorry but religion and politics are usually banned.

The way the team plays, not a bad idea. Wink
24  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: 2017 SCHEDULE on: January 09, 2017, 12:57:06 pm
Certain old timers (see above) seem to think that if you express an opinion unfavorable to the continuation of the Army-Fordham football series, you might be a 60s hippie with animus for our fighting men. Well, age obviously does not necessarily confer wisdom.

And, by the way, before 2011 this ancient series consisted of three games, played in 1891, 1899, and 1949.
Three times in over 100 years is quite a tradition, about equal to the frequency of men's basketball having a winning season.
25  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Fordham - St. Joe's Thread : 1/7/17, 3:00pm Pre Game/Game on: January 08, 2017, 06:56:49 pm
Shameful, not the players, presumably they're doing as best as they can. The administration is the culprit. This team is an embarrassment. Gave up on them several years ago. Did watch game on tv as the snow changed our  plans. This offering is as bad as any I have seen in decades, and that is saying something as we have been awful for decades. RIP Fordham  basketball
26  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Pre- Game Thread Fordham Rutgers on: December 17, 2016, 07:24:34 pm
Are we gloing to be embarrassed again. Hopefully not, probably so. The program sucks. As bad as with the bad coach , one or two

27  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Are we in free fall? on: December 13, 2016, 02:36:58 pm
Like leaving the A-10 but it does not stop the football boys coming here and pushing for that to happen as soon as the opportunity presents itself.  These guys were quiet last year, not even enjoying the good season we had.  Now they crawl out of their holes.  So lets have the real conversation: football at the FCS level is a joke.  It is an even bigger joke playing in the PL.  I go to a game a year and see a half because it is like watching paint dry.  I went to the home playoff games a few years ago no one went, it was a joke.  FCS football continues to decline as the FBS grows it is a waste of 7 million a year.  The only thing that propped this season up was the Yankee Stadium game, cool time that had nothing to do with the game.  FCS football ship has sailed we will continue to decline as the other programs improve.  Time to end the charade and put our resources into basketball.  Solves a lot of problems.
I disagree. Scrapping a successful program to pump in money to a failure is not the way to go.  I attended the bball games until I gave up three or four years ago.  Just too many years of horror.  Major decline when Penders left. Year long supposed national search for a replacement and we get Nick, the Canisius coach.  He turned out pretty much okay and was our solidest coach since Penders including the incumbent. Also, IMO, football fans are generally supportive of the basketball program but everyone has a limit.
28  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Are we in free fall? on: December 13, 2016, 01:34:25 pm
The MAAC would be a very good fit. You could rebuild natural rivalries with local schools including Iona, Manhattan, and St. Peters.
If we were to move, the MAAC would be acceptable, the PL, for other than fball, unacceptable.  What was that BS that Fr. McShane said not that long ago as to bball being our marquee program.  That marquee is falling down and sadly the program close to being an embarrassment.
29  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Are we in free fall? on: December 13, 2016, 10:59:03 am
You can't tell the AD to kick the team in the ass if he took the coach to task for kicking g the team in the ass.  Roach has no idea what it takes to succeed in A-10 basketball, that is why he hired a search firm.  It is nice we are succeeding in these other sports but A-10 hoops is a different world.  He may be way out of his league.
30  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Fordham Saint Johns on: December 08, 2016, 09:17:56 am
SJU lost to Delaware St., then, the 10th worst team in the country.  MC lost to St. Peter's who we beat.  IMO we have good chance of winning both.  Regardless, all three teams are closer to terrible than they are to mediocre.
