1  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: WBB vs Bucknell on: Yesterday at 03:51:59 pm
Bucknell was pretty good. Patriot League champs last year. They closed to within 5 late but we hit our foul shots down the stretch.  Kavanaugh - 22.   We shot 66.7% from 3. I wasn't a math major but I think that's 2 out of 3.  52 % from the field.
2  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: WBB vs Bucknell on: Yesterday at 03:15:56 pm
 Kavanaugh with 17.
3  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: WBB vs Bucknell on: Yesterday at 02:54:03 pm
And Davis was sitting with 2 fouls. Their "big" is scoreless I believe, having sat for most of first half - now has 3 fouls. Did I say the refs are not allowing any contact?
4  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: WBB vs Bucknell on: Yesterday at 02:46:27 pm
Holden is on fire. IMHO the refs are much too quick to call fouls... both ways.
5  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: WBB vs Bucknell on: Yesterday at 02:44:59 pm
But what a turnaround! Rams up by 5 at the half.
6  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: WBB vs Bucknell on: December 16, 2017, 04:32:22 pm
Thanks, tx. Hopefully Coach can make use of the bench against Bucknell.  Go Rams.
7  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: WBB vs St Johns on: December 13, 2017, 11:14:02 am
Totally agree. A rare bright spot for Fordham athletics. Well done team and staff!
Coach Gaitley can do it all, but "a rare bright spot"Huh?   After the men's soccer finish, after the success of the softball team in recent years? Let's not let our poor performance in men's basketball paint the whole athletic program with a mud-covered brush.
I'm modifying because I noticed the the other recent post by txram reminds us that the soccer guys were ranked 11th in the nation. Not too shabby.
8  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: WBB vs St Johns on: December 13, 2017, 08:55:12 am
In a double OT win Holden and Goulding played 50 minutes while Cavahaugh and Davis logged 48, Klug 44. Can we continue this for an entire season? Txram, any comment?

85 mentioned the emotional play of the women. That's clearly on display in the photo that accompanies the story on our website...including Coach Gaitley. How about the time she ran way out on the court trying to get a timeout at a crucial point near the end. Go Coach. Go Rams.
9  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: WBB vs St Johns on: December 12, 2017, 09:54:06 pm
Gaitley can recruit and coach.

+1

ESPN3 coverage as excellent. Announcers stuck to calling the game not their favorite music.
11  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: WBB vs St Johns on: December 12, 2017, 09:37:09 pm
Wow! They did it again! Tough, gritty win. Cavanaugh was great. Goulding again with the off rebs. Davis got her double double by scoring a bucket in rthe closing seconds of OT#2. They are something.
12  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: WBB vs. Iona 12/9 on: December 10, 2017, 09:58:00 am
Good get, fordham81. Saw that yesterday. She could be a presence inside. Yesterday she was 3/3 converting several really nice passes from players driving to the hoop.
13  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: WBB vs. Iona 12/9 on: December 09, 2017, 02:53:02 pm
Even though we were coasting when Iona put on a press that seemed to be giving us trouble, coach called a quick timeout. A novel idea.
14  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: WBB vs. Iona 12/9 on: December 09, 2017, 02:47:15 pm
Sorry about starting another thread. Guess I was so happy to see us beating Iona. I know how bad they are this year, but you can only play theteam in front of you...and other platitudes. Fun to see the future Rams. Also fun to watch and relax with a win.
15  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Rams Stomping Gaels on: December 09, 2017, 01:52:51 pm
Has a nice ring to it. RAMS UP 34-14. Davis has a double double AT THE HALF.
16  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Harvard @ Fordham Pregame/In-game 12/6/17 7PM on: December 09, 2017, 10:02:16 am
Havsa leads the team in assists per minutes - 12/103. I'm sure that's why the coach is playing him, while hoping he'll get back close to last year's shooting - 22/46, .478 total, incl. 8/24 from three. And, as has been pointed out, most of his PT came in conference play.
17  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Harvard @ Fordham Pregame/In-game 12/6/17 7PM on: December 07, 2017, 08:08:02 am
That timeout situation had to have had something to do with Havsa's and Evans' failure to call timeout. When JN called his signature TO after a made basket with more than 12 minutes remaining, everyone knew we only had one remaining.  You'd have to think that some coach reminded the kids about that fact. It was definitely in their heads, IMHO.
18  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: WBB vs. Penn State on: December 07, 2017, 06:58:30 am
Not too shabby this year. They're 8-2. Beat Manhattan by 32, Wake Forest by 10.
19  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Harvard @ Fordham Pregame/In-game 12/6/17 7PM on: December 07, 2017, 06:46:47 am
I disagree about Havsa. Can't excuse the clock violation of course, but he had 1 turnover against 4 assists last night. He should have had more assists but he finds guys for wide open shots and they throw up bricks. He seems afraid to shoot. Pekarek definitely is not reluctant to do so.
20  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: WBB vs. Penn State on: December 06, 2017, 08:55:00 pm
I just left the men's loss.  Defense was there I thought. It's just that PSU's shots - difficult ones -were falling, while we worked, got a good look, but just couldn't buy a basket. We went cold...obviously at the wrong time. Wasn't a matter of giving it away.
21  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: WBB vs. Penn State on: December 06, 2017, 07:49:03 pm
Nooooo!  We go up 54-44, but the Nittany Lions go on a 21-6 run. Rams lose 65-60.  Three pointers dried up. Davis couldn't score inside.  Great effort for 36-37 minutes. Super game from Mary Goulding. She's a battler.  Ten offensive rebounds!  Close, but no cigar.
22  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: WBB vs. Penn State on: December 06, 2017, 07:13:59 pm
Rams up 49-42 end 3rd.

Rams up 34-28 at half.

25  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: WBB vs Pitt on: December 03, 2017, 04:56:13 pm
Way to go, Ladies. Fordham over Pitt. Has a nice ring to it. And without our best player?! Congrats to team and to Coach. Wow. Woulda watched but was at a CYO game. Go Rams.
26  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Fordham vs. Manhattan Jaspers Pre-Game/In-Game, 2pm - 11/26/17 on: November 26, 2017, 05:24:34 pm
it's an OOC game that might not be what it once was but it still usually draws better than most other OOC games.  Playing on Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend guaranteed that the game would draw poorly.
Exactly, Battering. Kids are returning to campus and probably not in a rush back to see Fordham b-ball, but maybe during the week or next weekend??
27  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Fordham vs. Manhattan Jaspers Pre-Game/In-Game, 2pm - 11/26/17 on: November 26, 2017, 04:36:08 pm
I  would like to inform Kenny Ducey he is there to be the color man for a Fordham game. He does a lot of babbling about things that have absolutely nothing to do with the game.
+1. I can't comment during the game (or chew gum) but I jotted a note to that effect, s.carolinaram.
Still on the announcers I thought the other guy had a great halftime interview with the soccer coach and one of our defenders and goal scorers last night.
28  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Fordham vs. Manhattan Jaspers Pre-Game/In-Game, 2pm - 11/26/17 on: November 26, 2017, 04:17:38 pm
Agree about Pekarek. I hope Havsa gets some minutes. I feel he's playing scared right now. I thought he brought up the ball when called upon and generally made smart passes. I was surprised to see Pekarek come in for him with a lead and time running out.
As our biggest lead starting slipping away I shouted "Time Out." But no. The announcers commented that he was waiting for the media time out, but please dont let the other guys go on a big roll while waiting for a free timeout.
29  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: Fordham vs Duke on: November 26, 2017, 12:32:54 pm
Thanks, Ace. I did try to look it up this morning, but couldn't find what I wanted. I did come across FIFA rules which indicate what I said about "European' soccer. Be that as it may, it's a nice story for the senior and a fantastic story for the Rams.
30  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: Fordham vs Duke on: November 26, 2017, 08:34:39 am
A question for Ace - or anyone else as qualified - to answer. You've said that our 10th guy to take a PK was the backup goalkeeper. I thought that only players who were in the game could participate. I'm guessing that that is a European rule and that college soccer here allows the coach to choose anyone on the game roster???
