clearly has HC experience.  Coming from Montana, should know how a solid FCS recruit plays/looks like.  I know our roster is primarily East Coast student athletes and some Ohio, Texas ..would recruiting be a hurdle for him?    127-74  HC record is good but not great.  not pumped up at the moment,  imo could be better , could be worse..  curious of the other coaches possibly in mix.

Mississippi State: Source tells FootballScoop Joe Moorhead and Bob Shoop have offered linebackers position to San Francisco 49ers defensive quality control Tem Lukabu. Lukabu is in his 4th season in the NFL, his second with the Niners (also spent 2012-13 with the Tampa Bay Bucs). His collegiate experience includes time at FIU, Colgate, Rhode Island and Rutgers. Lukabu played linebacker at Colgate 2000 – 2003. We have not heard whether Lukabu has accepted the position or not at this time.

Coach M hired (or tried to hire) Lukabu @ Fordham to be DC.  Shortly after, I believe Shiano offered him a job with the Tampa Bay Bucs.   I guess Coach M  was impressed  its the 2nd time he's making offer to Lukabu ..

Holy Cross message board says  Bob Chesney HC Assumption will be named new HC @ Holy Cross.

sounds like these guys were finalists for job. Reno is from MA and perhaps it came down to $  (or lack thereof @ HC).
Tony Reno  HC Yale
Joel Lamb Harvard (FCS – MA) offensive coordinator
Tim Cramsey   Sam Houston State offensive coordinator

any leaks/rumors or grapevine on who Fordham has targeted  ?   Grin

Slanina out but  Havsa is also out/flu?    Is it worth giving C Downing 6 '9 235 a few mins in the 2nd half ?  ..  yes I know he is a walk on but Freeman is having his way.  also gives quick breather to Raut/Perakek.
7  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Official National Coaching Search Thread on: December 12, 2017, 11:44:08 am
Holy Cross (FCS – CT): Per sources, Yale (FCS – CT) head coach Tony Reno, Assumption head coach (D-II – MA) Bob Chesney, and Harvard (FCS – MA) offensive coordinator Joel Lamb are all candidates for the head coaching vacancy at Holy Cross. We understand that a decision on this one could come in the next day or two, with a formal announcement later this week.

Source tells FootballScoop Sam Houston State offensive coordinator Tim Cramsey is no longer a candidate for the head coaching opening at Holy Cross.  perhaps HC liked the other 3 better or Cramsey wasn't thrilled with the job offer.

I posted it here as I wonder if Fordham is also targeting a few of these coaches.  If were not,  its worth taking a look at them,  they clearly are interested in an FCS HC position.

I understand not wanting to talk about facilities in every thread, but I do not think it can be dismissed as not mattering either.
+1     Plus it matters to the HC having adequate resources to do his job and to the student athletes considering coming here.

Tim Cramsey   OC Sam Houston State is in mix for HC job @ Holy Cross.
I listed him here as perhaps would be a candidate for Fordham job as well.

On that video, MSU AD said that the Fordham AD told him that JM was the BEST coach in any sport he had worked with in his 25 years. I guess that does not mean the two were also at odds at times.

as usual with Fordham, they were at odds about facilities.  We still have no field house and our weight room/training area for varsity athletes resembles a HS facility (underneath the stands).  Additionally the football coaches offices are at least ~40 years old, outdated and cramped.  Coach M knew we're not FBS but if Fordham chooses to play football in the scholarship PL then we should have athletic facilities similar to our peers (and we don't).   He asked for incremental improvements - which never came.  Our new HC will have similar hurdles in recruiting against PL, CAA schools.  Fordham's facilities are substandard in comparison to most (if not all of those schools).
11  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Official National Coaching Search Thread on: December 09, 2017, 11:17:36 am
some guesses on who we may target, want to speak to..

Chuck Priore -  HC  Stony Brook  CAA better conference nicer stadium   doubtful
Peter Rossomando -HC CCSU 2017 NEC champs (HC record so so) but program moving right direction
Bob Chesney-  HC Assumption   33-14 record  D2
Glen Caruso -  HC St Thomas  D3  stellar record  109-15  a winner but could translate that formula to scholarship league?
Dave Cecchini - HC Valpo   Lehigh grad '95  know PL well and would be step up from Pioneer League
Sean McGowan - Yale DC   Fordham grad but no HC experience
CoryBailey -FBS Coastal Carolina  RC/DL - Fordham grad , experience but losing record as HC @ Assumption

I think a handful of qualified coordinators from CAA and maybe some low FBS (MAC) schools that would be interested in a HC position with us.     I hope Parker can uncover some qualified folks, that may make sense as well.

12  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Your dreams and prayers have been answered on: December 07, 2017, 07:05:50 pm
to be honest i tried to find the video to see what exactly the players did and which ones and form an opinion for myself. I did stumble upon a letter from Coach B to a player and why he was suspending him from team.  It had to do with what he was posting on social media and that the coaching staff had made repeated requests for him to take it down and tone it down (language and material) and that it wasn't in line with the universities code of conduct.  If you know which player was suspended and type his name in .. twitter. you can find it.  when coach AB left this player made a joke about it.   Ill leave it at that.

I'm also glad we're using a search firm. I don't know how they determine cost, perhaps a  it's a percentage of the total dollar amount of contract.

guessing we'll offer  ~250k  annual salary.   What do you guys think?   For a successful HC at  D2 or D3 its likely a step up in pay.  For a lower level FBS coordinator  that might actually be a pay cut.  Perhaps find a successful guy looking to run his own program.

believe there is an early signing period for football this year.. December 20th.  I would think hope we would have our guy in place by then.  More importantly though, is getting the right guy.

Dear Fordham Alumni, Family & Friends,
I write this message to you with so many emotions as Kelly and I have decided to leave Fordham to join Coach Moorhead at Mississippi State. We are so grateful for the six years we spent here at Rose Hill and all the wonderful people that make Fordham so special. I would like to thank you personally for your support and wish you the very best in the future.
I will always be proud of my time as a Ram!

Mississippi State: Andrew Warsaw has agreed to join the staff as director of football operations, sources tell FootballScoop. Warsaw was previously the DFO at Purdue and joins the Bulldog staff after serving as director of game operations for the NFL.

Andrew worked at Fordham 12-'13 for Coach M.

I know its a bit much to post every hire.. but I guess still curious if Coach B is on the move.  We'll see.

http://www.pennlive.com/pennstatefootball/index.ssf/2017/12/penn_state_ricky_rahne_offensi.html

Penn State elevates Ricky Rahne to Offensive Coordinator. A few other additions and changes on their staff.

The Lions also brought former Maryland offensive line coach Tyler Bowen aboard to coach tight ends.   Coach Bowen was our OL coach for Fordham 2 years ago.

I thought Coach B had an outside chance to be offered a positional coach opportunity (QB coach)  @ PSU. not that it was deserved - more to the fact the success Coach M had and Coach B knows the offense.  Doesn't look like it.

I try to check every few hours to see who Mississippi St hires..  Wink

FBS Assistant Coach Salaries     @ Miss St. last year,  the position coaches  ranged 225k -650k
The coordinators more than that.  but its enough loot to lure Coach B if Joe made him an offer as a position coach - QB Coach  - Co O Coordinator etc.   Id guess Coach B  makes ~ 200k as HC @ Fordham  (no hard info on that).

Someone else mentioned former OL coach Coach Joel Rodriguez  player personnel coach @ The U (Miami/his alma mater).  curious if Joe would try reunite with him..  thought Rod was good one.

https://www.landof10.com/penn-state/charles-huff-mississippi-state-hire-joe-moorhead-penn-state

Joe Moorhead has made his first hire as Mississippi State coach.

According to a report by Football Scoop, Moorhead is bringing one of his former colleagues, Penn State running backs coach and special teams coordinator Charles Huff, along with him to Starkville, Miss.
Huff is expected to serve as assistant head coach and co-offensive coordinator, while also still likely working with running backs, per Football Scoop’s report.
Moorhead had served as Penn State’s offensive coordinator the past two seasons before being hired by Mississippi State. Huff had been with the Nittany Lions since 2014.
Prior to coaching at Penn State, Huff had served as an assistant at Western Michigan, Vanderbilt, Hampton, Tennessee State and the Buffalo Bills of the NFL. He was the assistant special teams coordinator for the Commodores in 2011.

Does the co-offensive coordinator indicate a 2nd co-offensive coordinator (a 3rd person, Coach B for example)  or he is sharing that role with Joe?   thank you for the help with my reading comprehension..  Cheesy

SOURCE: Joe Moorhead's deal at MSU is four years at an average of $2.7 million. Gets $100,000 for SEC title game appearance. 200K for SEC title. — Pete Thamel (@PeteThamel) November 30, 2017

Moorhead’s reported average salary of $2.7 million would put him approximately 12th among coaches in the conference, with an amount that compares to Vanderbilt coach Derek Mason’s $2.72 million for 2017.

~12MM  guaranteed     sweet!
22  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Coach Moorhead to Mississippi State ! on: November 28, 2017, 10:56:14 pm
Didn't Penn State and Fordham hold a joint summer football camp for HS players? I'm sure it was a favor to us (through coach Joe )- and clearly we would be looking at the FCS kids and Penn State the FBS kids  but the Penn State brand -name recognition  probably helped more #'s come out to the camp.
Coach Franklin therefore already met / knows Coach B to some extent. In theory he could offer him a QB Coach spot - rather than OC but still help keep and teach the style /system their running now .. especially if Franklin promotes someone within in his program.  Again Coach M could potentially offer Coach B a spot on his Miss. State staff.  should be an interesting next few days..  Wink

wow   good for him!

If Joe thought that highly to push to Coach B  to get the Fordham HC job,  would he offer him a spot (QB Coach/ OC etc) @ Mississippi State?    I wonder if AD Roach calls Joe and politely asks him to bring Coach B along.  Smiley    Make it look like a promotion/step up for Coach B  and we can start fresh.

yep, strike while the iron is hot.  If Joe does land -- it brings us back to Coach B.

Mississippi State paid their  HC  Mullen  4.6MM a year.
UCF    paid HC Frost  2MM   if/when Frost leaves for Nebraska job.  Joe's name is coming up @ UCF as well.

I never really thought Miss State would be a landing spot for Joe but if they offer  4mm+  x  4/5 years   =20MM-25MM  guaranteed --may be too much money to pass up.  In fact, even if things went terribly wrong he could move back to PA buy a 1mm mansion, live off the interest and coach his boys in HS.
27  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Should Coach Breiner be on the "Hot Seat" on: November 28, 2017, 09:01:32 pm
i watched some of the Stony Brook - Lehigh playoff game.  SB played OL was impressive. Anyway I looked at their roster they had ~12 FBS and Junior College transfers.    http://www.stonybrookathletics.com/roster.aspx?path=football

I don't expect them to beat JMU but thats the right formula for competing with the Top 10-15 teams (FCS championship).  They were 10-2 this year.  Coach B should be looking to bring in FBS transfers as well. Especially on the OL/DL.

29  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Field Turf on: November 20, 2017, 12:33:45 pm
If we do replace it  can we   put    FORDHAM in one end zone  and  RAMS  in the other ..  maroon, topped with white block letters.
I know it's also used for soccer.  I've seen other turf fields (that also have soccer) have insignia/painted end zones.   The soccer lines are perforated (usually yellow).   I mentioned this in another thread  and got  tease..   re arranging chairs on the Titanic  ..  Grin
However, its fairly simple and an incremental improvement.  Plus  it cuts down on the vast open feel when watching game @ Coffey Field.
