Give Downing a couple of minutes if only to dish out some hard fouls
2  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Fordham @ Rutgers PreGame/InGame - 12/12, 7:00pm on: December 12, 2017, 07:57:15 pm
Just got home and have the game on, do we just have six schollie players available?
3  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Official National Coaching Search Thread on: December 10, 2017, 09:57:30 pm
Fordham already ranks 8th nationally in I-AA/FCS budgets for football. The top 10 in 2015-16: (Liberty not included because they are reclassifying to I-A)

1. James Madison University   ($8,998,446)
2. University of Richmond   ($6,794,504)
3. Villanova University   ($6,566,982)
4. University of Delaware   ($6,564,268)
5. Montana State University   ($6,515,106)
6. College of William and Mary   ($6,507,909)
7. Furman University   ($6,199,004)
8. Fordham University   ($6,003,614)
9. Coastal Carolina University   ($5,933,002)
10. Colgate University   ($5,628,724)

It is nice that we are in the top ten but what goes into the number?

I can guess at a few items, coaches salaries, travel, recruiting budget, etc.

But do scholarships go into that number?  With the cost of our tuition that alone could make our budget higher than some bigger/better programs

Spending money is great but a big budget does not make up for some of the nicer facilities that other schools enjoy (sorry to bring up facilities but I think it is relevant)
4  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: WBB vs. Iona 12/9 on: December 09, 2017, 01:36:36 pm
There is now more scoring but Iona loves to throw the ball the ball away, could be why they are 0-7 on the season  Wink

24-10 Fordham with 4:48 left in the second
5  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / WBB vs. Iona 12/9 on: December 09, 2017, 01:18:39 pm
With 5:22 left in the 1st Fordham has 7 points

Iona has 0

Yes that is correct
6  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Fordham vs. St. Francis - PreGame/InGame 12/9, 3pm on: December 09, 2017, 01:16:21 pm
Can we shoot 35% from 3 today?

What a difference that would make
7  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: UMaine @ Fordham Pregame/In-Game 12/2/17 2PM on: December 02, 2017, 04:31:31 pm
Sometimes you say any win is a good win but even this win is worrisome
8  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: UMaine @ Fordham Pregame/In-Game 12/2/17 2PM on: December 02, 2017, 04:22:01 pm
Tuning late

Can we win this?
9  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: NY Post article on men's soccer on: December 01, 2017, 08:10:00 pm
I listen to Sirrius FC on satellite radio and heard an announcement yesterday that the team and Coach were going to be featured

Did anyone catch it?
10  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Fordham vs E.Tenn St. - Pre-Game/In-Game 11/29/17, 7pm at RHG on: November 30, 2017, 09:53:09 am
I was waiting for an official announcement on Bunting. Heard about it before the Manhattan game, the surgery was already scheduled and he was just set to play his final games of the season. I assume he would have played last night had his back not been an issue. Still seems odd that he can play against Manhattan, but had season ending surgery scheduled already.

And Ohams tweeted that he was having hip surgery. Not clear if that is season ending also, but for the foreseeable future we are down to 8 guys with only 1 big. Time to work on that zone.

Wow, not the news I was hoping for

I agree the Bunting surgery story is confusing, how can he be OK  for the game, play so well before injuring his back. But need shoulder surgery and be out for the rest of the season

11  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Fordham vs E.Tenn St. - Pre-Game/In-Game 11/29/17, 7pm at RHG on: November 29, 2017, 07:48:21 pm
I haven't seen 85 get this passionate about a player since the days of Khalid Robinson.
Ha!

But please don't get him started

Is Bunting available this game?
12  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Coach Moorhead to Mississippi State ! on: November 29, 2017, 02:03:23 pm
Dave Roach has proven that most Fordham fans were right for all these years. He was a middle of the pack AD, at the Ivy and PL level. Masters degree, professional guy. Albeit a farily dubious record previously.  He replaces Frank and all of a sudden we start using our strengths and we we start winning, in some cases very big, across the board. We have out drawbacks as we all know, but Roach has done a very solid job. The sad irony is that the one decision that was apparently taken out of his hands, is the only one that has blown up. Let Roach make the call on Breiner. He has earned that right.

Right on all points
13  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Fordham vs. Manhattan Jaspers Pre-Game/In-Game, 2pm - 11/26/17 on: November 26, 2017, 03:48:29 pm
Always great to beat the Jaspers

What happened with Slanina that he was a DNP

In game injuries are worrisome, great that we overcame them for the win but I really hope they get better fast

Big game for Bunting & Hicks
14  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Fordham vs. Manhattan Jaspers Pre-Game/In-Game, 2pm - 11/26/17 on: November 26, 2017, 01:01:11 pm
There are few things sweeter than to see Masiello's sour puss when he loses a game in the RHG

Go RAMS
15  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: Fordham vs Duke on: November 26, 2017, 12:58:35 pm
NCAA rules allow each team to designate any 10 players as long as the player was listed as an eligible player on the roster to start the game.

Thanks, I had not idea that was the case

I am grateful for once that the NCAA does not follow FIFA rules, the backup GK took a nice PK, especially since he had not played all year prior to that moment. Kind of funny that as a senior GK his shining moment will have been to score a goal to help win a game
16  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: Fordham vs Duke on: November 26, 2017, 12:55:54 pm
What a performance, Rams in the Elite 8 for the first time in program and school history

Nuhu was brilliant in PK's, three saves, wow

As some may have figured out I am a huge soccer fan and like everyone else here a huge Fordham fan

I also have this little bit of a superstitious streak and I have not watched any of these games live, do I continue to sit out or do I watch the next game?

Really torn on this one, I want the team to succeed but I also really want to watch the game. I know that what I do has zero effect on the outcome but still....
17  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Field Turf on: November 22, 2017, 12:27:22 pm
Most turf surfaces are chosen because of the heavy use and in general they perform well.  There is maintenance required so the question might be whether Fordham is properly maintaining the field
18  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: I truly Believe Chase Edmonds Plays on Sundays on: November 19, 2017, 09:48:29 am
I really enjoyed watching Chase play and hope he finds himself in the best possible situation to play in the NFL
19  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: Mens NCAA tourney Soccer tonight 7pm JCF on: November 18, 2017, 12:11:43 pm
Just watched the highlights, some great goals, especially our first one

What a great atmosphere at the game

Beat Virginia!
20  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: Mens NCAA tourney Soccer tonight 7pm JCF on: November 17, 2017, 10:43:00 am
Great win, can't believe I forgot to watch it

I don't use a lot of the soccer terms and always say cleats instead of boots, it can be fun to watch euro snobs try to tell me I am wrong

However I do like the term pace as it conveys something very soccer specific when talking about the way a pass is made or a player uses his speed above pure speed itself. The "weight" of a pass is also OK with me

I would never say pacy winger out loud now matter how you much you paid me
21  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Fordham vs. Florida State (Montego Bay) - 11/17/17 on: November 16, 2017, 03:45:04 pm
I saw about 10 minutes of the second half and GW had some good moments creating open 3's and points off drives

There is no doubt FSU is bigger and more athletic than us and we will need to play really well to beat them but they are not a perfect team and can fall asleep on D

Hoping for an upset win but being realistic
22  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: Men's Soccer Takes on UMass in Semi Finals on: November 14, 2017, 07:18:42 pm
Very happy for the team, an at large bid is a real accomplishment now on to the game.

We got a good match up, now let's win
23  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Should Coach Breiner be on the "Hot Seat" on: November 11, 2017, 12:14:55 pm
I don't want to give AB another shot

Two years in and with a talented offensive team both years we go from a good team to a bad one this year

To me there are two really damning things:

The terrible defense - our defense was not very good with JM but the deficiencies were hidden somewhat with the terrific offensive production and the ability to make up for poor play by outscoring the other team, we won but there was an imbalance.  It is clear that the imbalance and poor play has not been addressed and in fact it has gotten worse. After sitting at JM's side and then two years as HC what evidence do we have that AB will be able to improve the defense?

The decline in the offense - even with the talent we have and the great system JM left behind, our offense has declined this year. True Chase was hurt and Anderson has been hurt or suspended, maybe both, but I expected more. Offense was where AB excelled, if he is going backwards here and can no longer rely on outscoring the opposition we are in trouble.

It is not just the two years as HC that I am looking at, it the whole arc of AB's time at Fordham, things are declining, we have seen enough, time for a change

I love the mixture of optimism and nervous anxiety

Been waiting for the season to start and all I can say is

GO RAMS!
25  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Exhibition Game Fredonia 11/3 on: November 02, 2017, 11:56:41 am
My main concern is to see if the bigs can stay out of foul trouble. We need Slanina and Ohams on the ice.....Slanina really seemed to be getting going last year before the injury.....Ohams is vital on D.

No way

Don't want to see either of them on the ice! Shocked

I do agree with you about them staying out of foul trouble
26  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Recruiting Update on: October 27, 2017, 01:59:35 pm
Some of the kids he offered were so young that they might just be graduating now. Maybe we should check their current interest levels.

Didn't he claim those kids were committed to him, not the school
27  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Fordham @ Colgate on: October 14, 2017, 02:06:34 pm
Thanks. Clearly not something a coach would do if he is in fear for his job.

Maybe, or he could just be trying to show that he is not losing the team

Could be a lot things, none of them good
28  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Fordham @ Colgate on: October 14, 2017, 12:26:17 pm
No Anderson today

Who is playing QB, the transfer from Indiana?
29  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: NYCFC, the Bronx, and Fordham on: October 14, 2017, 11:52:09 am
The search for a place to build a stadium for NYCFC has been going on for years and actually started before the franchise was granted

Last I remember about the site near Yankee stadium was that a business owner refused to sell his property on the footprint and the team decided to move on, maybe that has changed or a different property is being considered

There were published reports that after the Cosmos bid for a stadium at Belmont was rejected both the team and supposedly the Islanders, were interested in the site

Regarding our FB team playing at a NYCFC stadium in the Bronx or wherever it might be built, I cannot imagine that we would be able to sell anywhere near enough tickets to run a full home schedule there, maybe for special events like the HC game at Yankee stadium but that is maybe a once a year type event that requires a unique angle

How would it help FB to play in front of the same size 4.5K crowd in a near empty 25K stadium that costs us a fortune to rent?
30  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: FACTS and REALITY on: October 01, 2017, 05:34:16 pm
Whatever happens, we need a complete revamp of the defense, from players to coaching philosophy and we have needed that for several years

The bad play of this unit did not start this season, it has been going on for a while
