+1 and now we have someone starting a separate thread for Ryan even though we have never been mentioned in the same breath with him other than on this Board. This thread has gone from a recruiting thread to a thread with nothing more than wishful thinking on a lot of people's part.

I think that is what this thread always was. Now with the radio silence approach of JN it is even more so
2  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: 2017-18 Out Of Conference Schedule on: April 19, 2017, 12:07:35 pm
I believe that our OOC schedule needs to reflect first and foremost where we are as a program each year and over the past few seasons and likely next season we need to be able to rack up some wins heading into the A10 schedule

That could well mean that we continue to  play games against teams that do not get the fan base excited, but until we improve we will not be booking games against top notch teams unless we want to run the risk of losing, potentially badly

Could we play weaker teams that generate more interest,  maybe, but who would those teams be?  Local teams possibly but does anyone care about lower conference teams like LIU or FDU? We barely fill the gym when we play supposed long term rivals like Manhattan

Would we or should we play schools in areas where we want to recruit?  With the changes in recruiting and transfers it seems that that old traditional logic has no value

This is a tough question for a struggling program to answer

Man, I really can't wait till we find out who signs for us so we can move on from this  Smiley

Figure this is his agent dressing up up his draft/free agent prospects

But it is kind of an odd approach at his age to be saying, if only I could have seen the ball in college I could have caught it

Good luck to him
6  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Where is everybody going and why? on: April 12, 2017, 06:41:55 pm
From Rothstein:

Fordham grad transfer Antoine Anderson has cut his list to UConn, Seton Hall, Iona, and Buffalo, per a source. Immediately eligible. #shbb

Just a hunch but I am guessing it will be Iona
7  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Recruiting Update on: April 12, 2017, 10:08:28 am
It looks like every recruit we sign will be a surprise since right now we don't have a clue who the staff is close to signing
8  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Recruiting Update on: April 11, 2017, 10:55:06 am
Just counting the days till we find out who we are signing later this month

Hope we get two from the Grad transfer/juco bucket and two HS or Undergrad transfers

Some very good shooters would also be welcome
9  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Where is everybody going and why? on: April 04, 2017, 02:55:51 pm
I just want to hear who we are signing
10  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Softball / Re: Aughinbaugh Named A10 Pitcher of the Week on: April 04, 2017, 11:23:38 am
Tx,

Thanks, I was not sure at all how to evaluate 400 pitches thrown, even over two days, I knew baseball was not a good reference point in this case.

It does seem that the team has more quality pitching depth than it has had in awhile.
11  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Softball / Re: Aughinbaugh Named A10 Pitcher of the Week on: April 03, 2017, 03:00:12 pm
Madi Aughinbaugh, a freshman, was named A10 Pitcher of the Week, battling St. Joe's Ally Vergona for the honor, who threw close to 400 pitches against us this last weekend.

http://fordhamsports.com/news/2017/4/3/softball-aughinbaugh-named-a-10-pitcher-of-the-week.aspx

Congratulations to Madi!

Regrading the St. Joe's pitcher, 400 pitches, even for softball that sounds like way too many pitches, is that common?
12  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Fordham’s Joseph Chartouny to Declare for NBA Draft on: March 29, 2017, 02:23:42 pm
Note the part where he says he will not hire an agent, allowing him the chance to return to school

He could be just testing the waters or looking for a job overseas

Seems like he is leaving but there is some chance he can return

I don't see him being drafted by an NBA team, even getting a look as a roster invitee or the D League will be tough

13  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: MANNY SUAREZ 44 on: March 28, 2017, 10:55:37 am
I wish Manny well but just don't see much reason to revisit this
14  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Moving forward 2017-18 on: March 28, 2017, 10:53:15 am
We know that transfers are part of College BB but you can't help but wish we could get them out of the way quickly so that we can build toward next year.

No inside info but given the way that Tavares and Chubba has posted here about PT you have to wonder if it is one of them, maybe not Tavares since he only has one year left but Chubba might be looking for greener pastures.

I do hope that both stay but who really knows what will happen
15  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Sengfelder to transfer on: March 24, 2017, 03:37:34 pm
A little different thought on how the transfer affects recruiting

While I have no inside information I have to believe that the staff either knew of the transfer or had some suspicions about it

Hard to believe that they were caught off guard about it

While they still have to land a replacement I think they have laid the groundwork for it. I do hope that the recruiting class will include a mix of JUCO,  true freshman and a 5th year transfer

In fact you have to wonder if the emerging importance of 5th year transfers might take a little emphasis off the early signing period as it might be a better plan for most schools to hold at least one scholarship so they can look at who is available in that bucket in the spring
16  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Sengfelder to transfer on: March 24, 2017, 01:18:53 pm
Very sorry to see CS leave, he played well for us and would have been a key part of the team going into next season, his contributions will be both missed and tough to replace

Transfers of this type are becoming very common and we benefited form Hawkins last year

I give CS credit for finishing his undergraduate degree in three years and going on to get a graduate degree all while on scholarship, just wish he were staying at Fordham
17  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Not sure how people think this was a good season on: March 22, 2017, 11:54:26 am
I like Zarko for what he is, a player who tries really hard and finds ways to contribute to the team even if he is not a star

I hope that he will have time to work on his game, hopefully to improve his shooting and come back strong for his senior year

I always enjoy the reaction of the player he is guarding when they see the manic level of activity Zark has on defense, it would be great if he could stop everybody but that is not reality and he brings a nice change of pace on defense

If you understand what he is then I just don't get those who are killing him for not being a star
18  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: JOHN ANDARIESE FUNERAL RECOLLECTIONS on: March 22, 2017, 11:43:20 am
Joe,

Thank you for sharing with the board the details of the funeral

I did not know John personally but over the years through his public persona we all got to know something about the man and the impression I had was that that he was a very good announcer, loved Fordham and his family

Reading your post gave me a little more insight into what those who knew him best thought of him and it helped confirm and give depth to my opinion of John.

May he rest in peace

19  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Not sure how people think this was a good season on: March 20, 2017, 01:48:45 pm
I agree with the thought this was a very mixed season full of more than the normal peaks and valleys of performance.

The won lost record was not good and the OOC performance still bothers me.  The conference season was better with some nice wins but did close on a low note.  The overall record could have shifted with a shot here or there and there was far less  of the feeling that we were outclassed as in past seasons.

In total the season was more difficult to characterize than in the past.  While the coaching staff turned things around in conference play they were very slow to get it going in the OOC

I thought heading into the season that losing two terrific players in Rhoomes and Thomas would be a challenge but that Hawkins would be a net positive, that proved to be correct and Hawkins did turn out to be a good player but like the coaching staff he took a while to get going. I will say that his combination of toughness, size, athleticism and ability to make a play at times is something we have been lacking at guard for a while and would love to see us recruit players of similar profile in the future

The injuries were a real problem and at the same time an opportunity.  We saw more promise in the freshman than I expected, it looks like Ohams (hopefully with adding a few more pounds of muscle) and Havsa can be players for us, in other years they would still be unknowns as sophomores. Slaninia is a bit older but looks like he can be a force and I really hope Hicks can be be as well.

Sengfelder found more of a groove this year and he is an easy player to root for, AA was terrific and maddening at the same time in most games, JC had a tough year with injuries and family concerns but he overcome his troubles for the most part. Bunting showed very well at the end after a rocky start, I hope he can continue to improve and earn time on the floor next year.

Going into next year, assuming all eligible players return, I have more confidence in the strength and depth of the roster than in many years.   There are still holes, especially with the lack of shooters, but replacing Hawkins while a challenge is less than the problem of replacing Rhoomes & Thomas

I really  like that the coaching staff has demonstrated that they can improve payers and adapt their system to fit the talent they have, they do need to recruit well but again this year's recruits did well when pressed.

I don't know what to expect next year but I do have hope and none of the abject worry that I had in seasons past

I think we are progressing but like any fan I would us to make progress twice as fast as we have

I have no objection to honoring Frank's family

As long as they call it Incompetence Family Court at the Rose Hill Gym

26  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Athletic Department Topics / Re: Ask The AD with David Roach on: March 09, 2017, 12:13:15 pm
Unbelievable

Despite all of the negative comments here and the outrage of the fan base (we might be a fan website but we are the only Fordham fan website) over naming the RHG court in honor of a terrible AD, the administration has decided to publicize this effort and to actually label it as "McLaughlin Family Court to Herald Future of Fordham Athletics"

This is not heralding the future, this is honoring failure

I have no doubt Frank is a nice guy but this is just wrong
27  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Congrats to Jon Severe on: March 08, 2017, 10:21:29 am
One of many enigmas to pass through RHG.

Good luck to JS and the Gaels.

I think enigma describes him well

It is good to see that his time at Iona was more normal in BB terms than that at the RHG

I cannot say that I followed his time at Iona but good luck to him

Very strange game

14 minutes left and Ohams is our leading scorer, good for him but did not see that coming

The live feed announcer is I think trying out for the PA announcer slot
29  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Fordham @ La Salle - 3/4, 2:00pm - Pre-Game/In-Game Thread on: March 04, 2017, 02:41:47 pm
Keeping my mouse on the mute button, that announcer would give aspirin a headache.

Yikes!

He is really bad
30  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Fordham vs. George Washington - 3/1, 7:00pm - Pre-Game/In-Game Thread on: March 02, 2017, 08:14:00 am
That was a tough loss

I kept saying to myself in the early first half that we could hold on and it was frustrating watching the lead slip away, even more frustrating to watch was our guys helpless against their zone

Havsa's 3's were great but it felt like they were wasted

On to the next game
