1  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: All time best Fordham Starting five on: Yesterday at 08:37:24 pm
Has any Ram exceeded Tony McIntosh's all state (football 7 Basketball) in two sports?

Kenny Parker was an All State QB in NJ. He was also a very good basketball player but probably not All State. He was recruited to play football but was told that he could not be a college QB (thankfully our society has changed). He decided that if he could not be a QB then he would play basketball. John Bach was one of the few coaches recruiting him to play basketball because everyone thought he was going to play football.

At least that was the story from many years ago.

My bad to forget about Charley "Y" in the NBA....You are correct about his being blackballed...He refused to stand for the National Anthem along with Bill Walton...Charley "Y" never played in the NBA the next season, went to Italy where he became a local "legend" and a basketball hero.  He later married an Italian girl, raised a family there, and I believe, still resides there.  Bill Walton, being Bill Walton, never
was "punished" by the NBA.

Alan, Charley's buddy was Sidney Wicks, not Bill Walton.

Charley Yelverton also played in the NBA. He was drafted 25th by the Portland Trailblazers, but after I believe in his 2nd year he was blackballed from the NBA for not standing when the National Anthem was played.  He then he went to Europe where he was a huge success.

I saw him play against the Knicks at MSG.

That sounds like the same game I attended.

I was told by a SJU source that Mullin would play Fordham but Neubauer does not want to play. No information on why not.

SJU will play Iona in the holiday festival.

So with JC returning, we have two scholarships available with ten active players on next season's roster. I still think we sign at least one more guy.
7  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Disappointed ! on: May 18, 2017, 09:49:57 pm
Based on tonight's press release , looks like we may be done

No more commits for next year's roster? You don't really believe that, do you?
8  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Recruiting Update on: May 18, 2017, 09:05:56 pm
Maybe the timing of the press release just coincides with the end of the NLI signing period. Any future commits will not sign a NLI.

Looks like we're getting desperate.  This kid's stats last year at Southern Crescent Tech were awful, and his only press and highlights are his own mix tapes.  This is starting to look like the Khiry Gordon/Lamar Thomas Solebury prep days.

I don't see his name listed on the East Los Angeles College roster for this past year. It appears he will attend there this year and is class of 2018? Hopefully, this is not a serious recruit for us.

Gaitley to Richmond as a preferred walk-on

That makes more sense.

No,  I think it's this j brown . Offers from No Arizona and SE Missouri

Thanks for the correction. This is a little better.

Is the video of the correct J. Brown?

VC lists offers from Alabama State and Alcorn State. Nephew of Kenny Anderson?

On paper, not what we need.

The Fay brothers were  0  and -1 respectively.

They were overrated.  :D

Pat Lawless  Malachi De Sousa, a class of 2018 forward playing for Castle (NY), will go on an unofficial visit to Fordham tomorrow. looks like he reclassified from 2017 to 2018. Has an offer from Quinnipiac, that was  under Tom Moore.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfHrztplcI0&feature=youtu.be

Plays for South Kent School in Ct. Ranked #4 in Ct. and #21 in New England. He will have many more offers by Fall. Good move to connect with him early.

Hey, enough talk about the 93 team.  ;)
16  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Recruiting Update on: May 07, 2017, 09:08:21 pm
Sorry to ask but how many more ships for 17?

Two- as of this moment.
17  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Recruiting Update on: May 07, 2017, 07:24:06 pm
Looking at the elevation, perhaps we should start recruiting the kid.

Number 5 in the "wrong" video is Deontrae Wheat. He just finished his sophomore year at Kilgore High and was named Honorable Mention All East Texas. Maybe the staff should keep an eye on him.
18  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Tre Evans Commits to Fordham on: May 07, 2017, 04:55:30 pm
any news on the player from Lehigh?

Looks as though he may be headed to LSU but not definite.
19  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Tre Evans Commits to Fordham on: May 07, 2017, 04:53:33 pm
Tre Evans is not in that video above.
this is Tre Evans.

After watching that video, I retract my comment about his elevation on the jumper. But the rest stands.  ???
20  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Tre Evans Commits to Fordham on: May 07, 2017, 04:11:07 pm
Congrats to Tre and to Coach Neu and staff.

It does appear that he will be eligible immediately and have three years.

His shooting percentages at Kilgore were good. Shot 84% from the line and a FT is the same at all levels. Appeared to have very good elevation on the jump shot.
21  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Recruiting Update on: May 04, 2017, 08:25:32 pm
We offered Whaley back in 2015 so why do we offer again? Was that offer from Pecora era?

Tony Chiles offered him and was his recruiting contact.

Here is one that just came out - I thought we looked at him already?

2017 @MtZionPrep forward Isaiah Whaley has been offered by Fordham

Isaiah Whaley would be a great get. It appeared he was going to SLU after visiting in early April.

It now appears that New Mexico would be our main competition, although he has a very lengthy list of offers.

Are we still making a push for Myles Johnson?

It looks like Hawaii but we still have an outside shot.
24  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Recruiting Update on: May 02, 2017, 05:44:52 pm

We were never on his radar. Article mentions six or seven other schools.
25  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Recruiting Update on: May 01, 2017, 09:13:39 pm
In his commitment announcement, Devante Jones said that he will be continuing his basketball career "for the next 2-3 years" at Coastal Carolina. He certainly gave the Coastal Carolina staff plenty of notice.

26  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Recruiting Update on: May 01, 2017, 07:49:43 pm
Devante Jones has committed to Coastal Carolina. We appeared to stop recruiting him a few weeks ago and I don't believe he visited. I was told by someone who saw him play that he is not an A-10 level talent. I wish him success and hope he proves any of his critics wrong.
27  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Where is everybody going and why? on: April 30, 2017, 06:11:11 pm
A conference that only gets one bid a year is a bit risky. Yeah I know Iona is always in the mix given the weak conference but its no picnic having to win the tournament on Siena's home court.

That is true. But as of right now, Siena will be down and Iona will be favored to win the MAAC.
28  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Where is everybody going and why? on: April 30, 2017, 06:09:05 pm
Perhaps he wants a chance to win a game in the dance too.  Can't do that if you don't play defense

In that case he should have gone to Seton Hall.
29  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Where is everybody going and why? on: April 30, 2017, 04:26:32 pm
Last chance for AA to dance. Which school do you think gives him a better shot at doing that next year, UConn or Fordham?

As of today:

UConn- 30%
Fordham- 5%

That is just my wild guess. But if going to the dance is his main objective then he should have gone to Iona.
30  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Where is everybody going and why? on: April 30, 2017, 12:03:51 pm
We are talking about UCONN specifically their offering Anderson when without the transfers and the top 100 guard getting released from his LOI he would not even get a visit.  As Rhodes points out these gits think they are going to better situation and just looking on the surface most would react like 85 of course you go to UCONN. But when you look closer they are being sold a bill of goods and the grass is not greener.

I agree with that. I suspect AA is expecting to start at UConn. I think he will come off the bench and TBD how many minutes he gets. But he could be correct and I could be wrong. I like AA so I hope I am wrong.
