1  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: St. Peter's transfer Antwon Portley has committed to Fordham on: Today at 08:59:17 am
He's from St. Peter's. Isn't that in the vastly inferior MAAC?  Great

Jesuit, nothing inferior about a Jesuit College!  Evil
2  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Irish guy recruiting update on: April 23, 2017, 03:53:58 pm
What type of "trip" are you referring to? This is Northern California after all.

Dude!

If you see any of these 'guys,'  don't approach them yourself.

Call the State College PA Child Welfare office at (814)355-6755

They may be armed, as are most folks in Pennsyltucky.

Thanks for being a Ram, Antoine.  UConn is a great school too.
5  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Sengfelder to Boise st on: April 16, 2017, 12:11:25 am
No matter how you dice it, it does not say much for JN or the Fordham BB program, sad to say.  C Sengfelder is a very bright guy, had close to 4.0 GPA, I believe, and completed his business degree in three years, while playing on the BB team, and English is his second language! That's quite an accomplishment.  All things considered, I would have preferred to see him at Duke or UNC Chapel Hill, etc. not only for the BB but the academics as well. BSU should be a breeze for him. But he will always be a Fordham man and I am sure he will be a terrific representative of Fordham in all his future endeavors.  I hope he has good memories and sentiments toward Fordham.
With those grades, he could have gotten into any MBA or Biz program. Perhaps a transfer into a better grad program after his eligibility expires. He'll do well in life.

Different school, different conference, different part of the country, different experience. Expand your horizons, it's what education should do. Best of luck to him. Classy guy.

A chance to spend a year or two in the west? Nice part of the country. People are much nicer than the North East.  The big state universities do a lot of research, compared to the minuscule research we  do at Fordham.
7  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Sengfelder to Boise st on: April 14, 2017, 11:03:45 pm
I'd say 99% of people at Fordham have heard of Boise State. I'd venture to guess 15% of people at Boise State have heard of Fordham

If they memorized state Capitals.
8  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Moorhead ESPN / Fordham & Power 5 mention on: April 13, 2017, 06:03:31 pm
Can They are Penn State offer an incentive to keep him?
9  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Sengfelder to Boise st on: April 13, 2017, 02:24:14 pm
Academically, he'll do well, then he can transfer to a good graduate school after his eligibility runs out.

Thanks for being a Ram, Christian!

The call center in New Brunswick or Idaho likely wrote everything down and sent it to the development folk. Nothing else will happen.

This summer is my Jubilee, I will not be giving any money until I see some improvement.

The New Business Building at LC has no name yet.

Bids start at 30 million.

Fordham Basketball: The McLaughlin Entitlement Program

Time for him to go.

You can thank Frank for the lousy value the Fordham Basketball Brand has.
15  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Where is everybody going and why? on: March 31, 2017, 06:07:41 pm
I fault the school for this more than the players.

You are offering an extra tax free bonus, which has a significant monetary value, in exchange for nothing in return. To boot, it is coming back to bite you in the ass because the players are now able to leave after 3 years.  it is a very ill advised benefits package that in my view, needs to seriously be re-visited by the Athletic Director.

This reminds me of the late 1980s. A term that was common in those days was "tuition reimbursement."  Come and work for us, we offer medical, dental and full tuition reimbursement! Do you hear that anymore ever at any company?  It bombed because people would go to grad school or law school at night, on the company's dime, and the bolt the minute they graduated. Very quickly, that benefit was stricken across the board. This extra year of education is very similar.  It appears to be self-defeating.

NCAA and some government agencies write the rules. Mostly NCAA. Schools have zero input.
16  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: The Rose Hill Frank? on: March 31, 2017, 06:04:25 pm
I noticed that. Perhaps our wishes are coming true and the RHG will be razed.
17  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Where is everybody going and why? on: March 31, 2017, 10:18:37 am
Someone is whispering in their ear, likely a sports agent who will have dibs on them after college. Why transfer out of Princeton, UVA, or even Fordham? You are getting a world class education at these places.
18  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Antwoine Anderson leaving? on: March 30, 2017, 08:03:23 pm
No students show up for games. I would leave too.

I will continue to refer to the building as the RHG.

Via Arturo in Roma?

The Boogie Down.
23  Water Cooler / Food & Drink / Re: Rigoletto's is up for sale (or soon to be R.I.P. ??) on: March 15, 2017, 10:21:11 am

Since you posted the link with the news of the arrests and charges, I just want to add that from the handful of times I have eaten at Rigoletto's in the last year or two, it is obvious that if ICE were to raid the restaurant and check out the workers, they would find numerous illegal aliens working there. I am not taking a stand here on the issue of undocumented workers, but last August when I read about the arrest of the owner of Rigoletto's, it immediately crossed my mind that if the feds really wanted to bust his stones, they could have had ICE come in there and cause much much more trouble for the owner.

How was the food? I noticed a Greenwich online magazine did a nice writeup about Via Arturo.

"From loansharking and illegal gambling, to credit card and health care fraud, and even firearms trafficking, today’s mafia is fully diversified in its boundless search for illegal profits," Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said in a statement.

Unfortunately, this US attorney is being let go, despite being directly invited to stay on.

Let's avoid the politics. Others will proceed in his wake.

I think that certain alums feel that Frank was a good soldier and took the hits and criticism for the university's commitment (or lack thereof) over the years. I think they also feel that he was pushed out as AD, they thought this was unfair, and this group got together and decided to give him a thank you / parting gift.  I don't think Fr McShane cares a whit about any of this, the initiative or the reaction from others.

If they give him an Honorary Degree when he retires, I'm fairly certain I will never give another cent to Alma Mater.
26  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: RHG renovations on: March 10, 2017, 06:33:09 pm
Why would anyone give to Fordham if they are willing to honor mediocrity?

They are a refined dining establishment.

29  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: Baseball Starts the Season in Houston on: March 06, 2017, 07:55:45 pm
A reminder.  Fordham has the most collegiate baseball wins of any team.  Almost 900 more than 2nd place Texas.

We need to send both Men and Women to the College World Series.

I bought the Fordham Sailing Tie, last year. Very Spiffy. Would make a good team fundraiser.
