The author dresses with a lot of flair. The Boogie Down has the potential to be the rustic food capital of the world.

If I happen to be at the first game at the new FM Family Court I am going to sit for the national anthem in protest.
just kidding Wink

You could stand up and turn your back on Frank when they dedicate the "Family Court" or walk out and return after the game starts/resumes.
6  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Football streaming...? on: August 21, 2017, 08:54:11 am
WFUV should experiment with video streaming. A great opportunity to get student video experience.

College athletics has become insane.  I keep waiting for the system to collapse - there is so much content now no one can possibly pay attention to all of it to move the needle ratings wise- I must be thinking about it wrong because it hasn't collapsed.

How this is still a "non-profit" business blows my mind.

You try to be the first Politician to take on the NCAA, and every flagship school in each state. Won't happen.

Is Fordham Hosting a Hospitality tent on Buffalo Soldier field again?

Edit: Of course they are!

Fordham is calling them "Army" not Army-West Point

Beat Army!
9  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: patriot league on: August 16, 2017, 07:56:58 pm
McGill, considered to be the "Harvard" of Canada, located in Montreal, would be an interesting addition to the Patriot League. Their FB program is no where near the level of a Florida or Texas program and would never happen. The IVY league would be a good fit, but the IL would never, IMO, add any schools to the conference as it has become somewhat of an institution in and of itself beyond simply an athletic conference, previously known as the "Ancient Eight".
As such, the PL would be the best fit, at least as far as academics are concerned. Actually, I think it would be very cool to have them as a member of the PL,
even for FB only.

FYI: NYC to Montreal by car is approximately 373 miles while NYC to Williamsburg, Va is approximately 400 miles.  DC to Montreal is approximately 939 miles.

Air Canada is crazy expensive, but flights are quick and you can fly outta LGA, JFK and EWR. Amtrak is crazy slow, as is Amtrak to Williamsburg/Newport News. And the weather on the NorthWay can be very unpredictable ( think Army Football or Ga Tech fiascoes). But You don't have to deal with DC/Bal/NJ traffic. U of Toronto is also an academic powerhouse with a big endowment.

I'd prefer to drive to Montreal vs Williamsburg anyday. Just for the Beer and Poutine makes it worthwhile.

Because no players in their right mind from Florida or Texas would go play at mcgill?

Montrèal is a fun city, safe and squeaky clean. It is a bit Chilly in the winter. Betcha the food in the cafè is très délicieux.
11  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Why the RHG is to be Named for McGlaughlin on: August 16, 2017, 07:35:35 pm
Besides the McLaughlin and his family you might be the only person happy to see this

True fans of Fordham are not happy

I will refuse to call it after HIM/them. It is Thee Historic Rose Hill Gym. I might go to the first home game just to boo him when they dedicate it. Anyone care to join me?
12  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: 2017 Rankings on: August 14, 2017, 09:36:42 pm
I will say again that the eastern Washington game is the biggest game in the history of FCS Fordham football. We have them at home and will tell us exactly where we belong amount the fcs national powers.

Very exciting!
13  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: 2017 Rankings on: August 14, 2017, 09:34:35 pm
Thanks, Ace!  Beat Army and there's a decent chance are no one here will hafta worry about the ORV category again for the rest of the year.

BEAT ARMY!
14  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: patriot league on: August 14, 2017, 09:33:56 pm
Well, I assume the Canadian team in question would have to want to play American teams using American rules on smaller American fields; college teams in Canada primarily adhere to CFL rules (bigger field, 12 men instead of 11, three downs, and unlimited backfield motion (except for the QB), among others), and I don't really know why any of them would want to make such a change. Canadian football is pretty similar to American football, but the differences mean a lot for players who have grown up playing under either set of rules--just ask our own John Skelton about his brief CFL experience...

I assume it would be "House rules" I don't see Canadian Universities repainting their fields to play in a US league. But the statistics would be screwy. The goal posts are in the middle of the YUGE endzone. Missed field goals are awarded 1 point if it reaches the YUGE endzone.

Outer boro slang?

It should be a great season!
16  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: patriot league on: August 13, 2017, 07:08:08 pm
Sport in Canadian Universities (Don't call them Colleges) is low key. The provinces fund their universities from 70-80 percent. Canadians come to America for the Athletic Scholarships and . world class coaching. The Patriot League would be well positioned to invite the University of Toronto or McGill since they are closeby and have excellent Academics. Playing Football in Canada using Canadian Rules would be interesting.

THe Big Universities have formed USports, which may be more competitive than the CCAA.

I gave a speech at Carleton University School of Engineering a few months ago, smart kids.

One of our 2 year students now sits in the oval office. How about getting some of his money to pay for a new arena? Or are we too politically correct to do that?

A: Yes

19  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: San Jose State to hire Jean Prioleau as head coach on: August 07, 2017, 04:07:11 pm
Congrats to Jean.

HS classmate of mine went to Stanford and said that SJSU is their rival. Is that still the case?

Cal Berkeley is the big PAC10 rival.

Santa Clara is growing too, Jesuit in Sunnyvale.

California "State" colleges typically offer Masters as their highest degree and are not research focused. University of California schools (Cal, UCLA, + 7 others) are the major research schools. They have separate systems, chancellors, and boards.

Dionne Warwick has lots of friends in San Jose!

San Jose is now a big city, the capital of Silicon Valley.

I think a road trip to the Valley should be on the schedule.
22  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Why the RHG is to be Named for McGlaughlin on: August 06, 2017, 12:10:50 am
I know what it tells me: The current administration and BOT need to go.

Sadly Agree. Fordham is floundering and it is time for new blood in Cuniffe house.
23  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: San Jose State to hire Jean Prioleau as head coach on: August 06, 2017, 12:08:26 am
Congrats Jean! SJSU is a great school in the Valley.  Living expenses can be brutal, and the traffic is awful.
24  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: 2017 Predictions on: August 02, 2017, 10:47:17 pm
Game v. Army is televised on CBS-SN. Only problem is that the game is on at 6! I'm not home until close to 7 on a typical evening so thank goodness for DVR!

Leave work early and go!

We use Academy, been using them for years. West Point has nice buses too.

I'd rather use the money for painting maintaining and keeping a bus on scholarships.
