Fordham could sell it as the "Best tailgating in NYC".
2  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: Fordham's Nick Martinez on: June 21, 2017, 08:05:23 pm
He went to the wrong high school in Miami, but other than that I agree!

You gotta Splain, now.  Wink

Unless you are an Alum, the game day experience is lousy.  Clean Bathrooms are a plus, but not much else.

Maybe a two-fer with Arthur Ave, NYBG or NYZS? Free Shuttles.

Food trucks would be cool, and an Alumni Tent serving beer at every game.

Rutgers and West Point have a great Game Day experience.

I wish him all the best. We need the help.
6  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Let's not bury the lead boys! #1 in all the land. Go Chase on: June 11, 2017, 11:16:01 pm
Cheesy

On the other hand, many people think it's pompous for a bunch of journos to be picky about this.

The word "lede" became a common spelling in news room memos to distinguish it from lead ("led") used in Linotype machines commonly used to print type in news paper rooms a generation ago and more.  Both words were used frequently in internal memos, so the alternative spelling evolved to avoid confusion (or at least as I was told).

Who cares?  Newspapers and Rotary Phones are dying media.

We seem t go through sports marketing staff very quickly. Does Grank chase them away?
8  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Greg Marmaros on: May 25, 2017, 07:16:58 pm
I wish Greg the best. The Pats are a great organization, with a loyal fan base. No, I won't be rooting for the Pats.
9  The Fordham Forums / All Other Fordham Rams' Sports / Re: Coach Gaitley Signs 2 Year Extension on: May 24, 2017, 11:39:01 pm
Wow! An 18,186-year extension. I'm guessing that's a record.  Evil  Well, she deserves it.

The 14th amendment prohibits lifetime servitude.   Wink

I do want to congratulate coach, keep up the great work.
10  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: 2017-18 Out Of Conference Schedule on: May 24, 2017, 11:27:05 pm
We will play at Rutgers this year.

Return games:

Harvard home
ETSU home
Manhattan home

Saint Johns may be  off the schedule completely.

When was the last time we played a B1G team?
11  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Memorial Field stadium on: May 17, 2017, 03:44:46 pm
The nearby Hutch section is in perpetual traffic, and impossible to expand without tearing down homes. Conclusion: NOT GONNA HAPPEN
12  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: If liberty can do it than why can't we? on: May 17, 2017, 03:41:55 pm
just read that liberty is making the jump to FBS. Big move and very surprising but shows that it can be done at smaller private schools. Especially now with the era of mega conferences these lower tier fbs conferences like the sun belt , c USA need schools like this to survive .

Just saying it an he done .
Playing Clemson and UVA next year. Like ND is to the RC, Liberty is to Evangelicals.   They have a Yuge Arena and an even bigger Football Stadium.

The Commonwealth did not help, they self funded the growth. Online courses are paying the bills.

Perhaps we should play them. "Catholics Vs. Pagans" (what me sainted Irish Mum calls Protestants)  Evil

Softball is going to the Dance!
14  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Memorial Field stadium on: May 15, 2017, 04:08:28 pm
Is Iona considering Football?

That neighborhood is crazy crowded now. I could see Pelham and New Rochelle saying No.

The stadium is considered polluted and the Hutchinson River is nearby, enviros will get it killed.
15  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Why the RHG is to be Named for McGlaughlin on: May 15, 2017, 04:04:22 pm
I cant stand these handful of posters who constantly refer to Frank as a "good man."  What does that even mean?  Is he Mother Teresa?

Mother Teresa was a giant of the Church, her questioning of God, her charity towards the poor. Putting Frank and Saint Mother Teresa in the same sentence is sophomoric at best.
16  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Softball / Re: Softball in the NCAA's on: May 15, 2017, 08:37:54 am
Once again, Softball is our best team. Go Rams!
17  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Memorial Field stadium on: May 13, 2017, 11:00:05 am
I doubt Mt Vernon could pull this off. Stadiums are a Yuge financial risk.

Hutch is the only access.

If they can build a domed stadium fo 100MM, I'd be impressed.

19  Water Cooler / Food & Drink / Re: Have you ever eaten at POTS Soup Kitchen on Webster Ave? - Consider it! on: May 05, 2017, 10:29:54 am
Did not know. I'm fairly certain the food will be better than the food in the FU Caf.

But Arthur Ave is a culinary destination.

21  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: How Others Get Students To games on: May 02, 2017, 03:17:40 pm
I'm at many a football game, and I often see students walk past JCF on the way to the Caf. We've had some very good games in the past years.
22  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: How Others Get Students To games on: May 02, 2017, 02:18:29 pm
I think Fordham is admitting kids who are not interested in sports.
23  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: How Others Get Students To games on: May 01, 2017, 10:51:25 am
And the University of Rhode Island is a public university whose new arena was built with taxpayer dollars. The last time I checked, Fordham doesn't have access to such a funding source.

So I guess that we will have to come up with a different strategy. A winning record might inspire an increased interest among the students.

NYS Dorm Authority only helps with Dorms and Libraries. Hospitals and Courthouses can also gain NYSDA funding. No wonder FU so easily gets dorms up and running.

25  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: St. Peter's transfer Antwon Portley has committed to Fordham on: April 28, 2017, 08:59:17 am
He's from St. Peter's. Isn't that in the vastly inferior MAAC?  Great

Jesuit, nothing inferior about a Jesuit College!  Evil
26  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Irish guy recruiting update on: April 23, 2017, 03:53:58 pm
What type of "trip" are you referring to? This is Northern California after all.

Dude!
27  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Moorhead ESPN / Fordham & Power 5 mention on: April 17, 2017, 09:05:32 pm
If you see any of these 'guys,'  don't approach them yourself.

Call the State College PA Child Welfare office at (814)355-6755

They may be armed, as are most folks in Pennsyltucky.

Thanks for being a Ram, Antoine.  UConn is a great school too.
29  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Sengfelder to Boise st on: April 16, 2017, 12:11:25 am
No matter how you dice it, it does not say much for JN or the Fordham BB program, sad to say.  C Sengfelder is a very bright guy, had close to 4.0 GPA, I believe, and completed his business degree in three years, while playing on the BB team, and English is his second language! That's quite an accomplishment.  All things considered, I would have preferred to see him at Duke or UNC Chapel Hill, etc. not only for the BB but the academics as well. BSU should be a breeze for him. But he will always be a Fordham man and I am sure he will be a terrific representative of Fordham in all his future endeavors.  I hope he has good memories and sentiments toward Fordham.
With those grades, he could have gotten into any MBA or Biz program. Perhaps a transfer into a better grad program after his eligibility expires. He'll do well in life.

30  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Men's Basketball / Re: Sengfelder to Boise st on: April 15, 2017, 06:02:26 am
Different school, different conference, different part of the country, different experience. Expand your horizons, it's what education should do. Best of luck to him. Classy guy.

A chance to spend a year or two in the west? Nice part of the country. People are much nicer than the North East.  The big state universities do a lot of research, compared to the minuscule research we  do at Fordham.
