We have "athletes" on offense....why even practice.  Let's spend all of our time on Defense and Special Teams.....

The sad thing is that we won't....

I have no problem with a short leash, but I want a thoughtful decision made at the end of the season. .
[/quote]

LOL....and there was a "thoughtful decision" made with Coach AB's hiring.......Actually the decision of his hiring was totally calculated.....
4  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Chasing Greatness Documentary on: Yesterday at 01:23:40 am
So you are saying he cares to some extent.

you  said it not me...Wins and losses mean ZERO to Father McShane.
5  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Chasing Greatness Documentary on: September 18, 2017, 01:23:28 pm
I bet McShane loves it when Fordham sports fans are fighting about which sports program to raid for funds!

... rather than pushing him to support athletics in ways to raise all boats.

He could care less.  If he did care he would get the non-sports fan/Emmy watching student body to get their fannies into seats.

We are lost....
6  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: DEFENSIVE AUTOPSY on: September 18, 2017, 11:32:26 am
Ace .... without stirring up cries of "Free Speech, First amendment, censorship, etc etc" ... I'd hate to see something as poisonous as some sort of "New HC" thread now.  Our coach id 9-4. Assuming we don't have a group of boosters putting together multimillion dollar packages to entice Nick Saban to the Bronx .... I'd hate to see a dumpster fire of a discussion like that in the beginning of this season.

On my maroon bruised knees I beg you not to facilitate that lunacy now.

-Don't let it poison the recruiting environment. Patriot League staffs will get the dialogue... and use it!
-Prospect parents read it

We are trying to increase fundraising ...  a new snake pit of careless or even malicious statements and charges won't help Fordham football.

Literally I can't believe this is a discussion.

But yet those Patriot League staffs won't use 4 penalties to start the game enroute to a 64-6 debacle or nail-biter against CCSU or a 56-21 blow out against EWU against us?  Some recruits and their parents may be shocked that this isn't going on with the alumni after the "no bid" contract was given to AB.
7  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Fordham @ Bryant on: September 18, 2017, 11:16:07 am
Good point about CCSU but they did score a ridiculous 17 against us before we outscored them 38-14. But it is a road game and only a 7.5 point spread.

In all seriousness, when was our last solid road win?  West Point 2015?
8  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Patriot league is now the worst fcs conf in the country on: September 18, 2017, 07:57:09 am
Right now, let's worry about being competitive and winning the league.

+1, this is a right the ship week and game.  If we don't play disciplined, aggressive football this week then lets prepare to acknowledge that a panic button is within arm's reach.
9  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: DEFENSIVE AUTOPSY on: September 18, 2017, 07:51:54 am
Too soon. Much, much too soon.

Too soon for you, the A.D. or the fans on this board?
10  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: DEFENSIVE AUTOPSY on: September 17, 2017, 06:02:33 pm
I can name 5 coaches right now in the greater NYC area that would take this job, be defensive minded and be successful.  Maybe this is where we start a new coaching thread.

This analysis is sickening, but spot on.

Offense puts people in the seats (and we have embarrassing attendance), but Defense wins championships.
11  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Chasing Greatness Documentary on: September 17, 2017, 05:57:08 pm
No. What I am is a fan of Fordham athletics, who supports our teams in good times and bad, and who does not give up after a bad loss or even two. You, on the other hand, are a miserable, nasty, cranky malcontent who would much rather tear down than support. I call you louse because that is exactly what you are. Take your venom and shove it.

Thank God you are not an Astronaut....with your thinking when you try to re-enter the atmosphere you would skip right off and go tumbling back into space.....

I am not Anti-Fordham nor Anti Chase.  I love that kid and think the world of him.  I just think that it is idiotic that we would endorse and submit a video of him the day that he officially becomes injured and not able to play going forward.  Why the Hell wouldn't we have endorsed and published this video a week before the West Point game?
12  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Eastern Washington @ Fordham on: September 17, 2017, 02:09:09 pm
The glory days of Holy Cross were a lifetime ago.  They hang over that program the way 1971 hangs over our hoops program.  You can't build a team with local recruits today.  It's a different world.  I'm not even sure you can do it with regional recruiting.

Coach, you can't just bypass the St. Peters Prep, Bergen Catholic, Don Bosco, Paramus Catholic, Chaminade, Malvern Prep programs and just play dead like we are doing.  Correct, you aren't going to land Jabrill Peppers, but there is plenty of talent there.  There is a kid right now in North Jersey at a big public school that is being looked at by all the Ivy's and other Patriot League teams.  I was told that we have not even contacted him.  We don't have to trek over every inch of this nation to find quality talent.
13  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Eastern Washington @ Fordham on: September 17, 2017, 01:54:49 pm
the Hey Day of HC football - 4 tops d-lineman / o-lineman per class - it got Gordie Lockbaum & Gil Fennerty to HC

This is difficult stretch for this Program; still thin it can be done!

What?  Of course it can still be done here with us.  It comes down to recruiting.  Those "glory year" Holy Cross players are around and within a 30 mile radius of Rose Hill.
14  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Eastern Washington @ Fordham on: September 17, 2017, 01:20:48 pm
Disagree.  They hired a guy with a very limited resume and with no search.   It wasn't a flyer, it was entirely calculated.

His starting salary is/was lower than Coach Joe's when he was here.  This was 100% calculated.
15  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Patriot league is now the worst fcs conf in the country on: September 17, 2017, 01:12:30 pm
We are now a middle of the pack Patriot League team, and if we lose to Bucknell then we are a lower tier Patriot League team.  The Patriot League (minus Georgetown) called Frank's bluff and responded with scholarships.  Now the playing field is level.  CCSU and Bryant are at the bottom of the Northeast Conf.  We already see how we competed vs. CCSU.  Next week's game against Bryant is a must win for our credibility.  This has all happened in the last 3 years.  #1 Coach Joe left (no-brainer for him), #2 the rest of the conference is now on the same playing field with scholarships, #3 we now have a "no-search" 31 yr old head coach who has no defensive focus(does that show commitment from the administration?), #4 We have arguably the worst facilities in the Patriot League.
16  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Chasing Greatness Documentary on: September 17, 2017, 02:07:40 am
I'm taking bets.

clearly after today it showed that you are/were clueless....

Make sure that you clean your Rose-Colored Glasses.  Or better yet throw them out.

You can't put lipstick on this.....
17  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Eastern Washington @ Fordham on: September 17, 2017, 02:04:18 am
I have more of an issue with the offense. Anderson looks lost out there, shuffling around, trying to fake handoffs that aren't fooling anyone. Going back to last week, there's more emphasis on a passing game that doesn't have their #1 receiver and a broken line. We all knew the defense would  give up a ton of points, but the add also had 3 turnovers in the first half.

Also, why Breiner let the clock rundown at the end of the first half with 1:10 or so to go with all 3 timeouts baffled me.

Our offensive line is not good against an overmatched team.  Yes, Anderson is lost, especially when he is running for his life.  Did anyone watch the Giant/Cowboy game?  Yes Eli looked lost also because the Giants have no offensive line.

Our Off and Def lines are not good, our Special teams are terrible and quite frankly Chase would have helped but with our line problems he would have been lucky to gain 40 yards today.

Our coaching schemes don't focus on the run, even though, Chase is an elite athlete.  I believe that is because Coach B knows that our offensive line stinks.....I have been highly critical about our Coach.  Actually today I think he realized how overmatched we really were, and there was no hiding that fact.

When the tide goes out and you are naked there is nowhere to hide.  We are not very good!  Why?  There are a number of reasons why.

Coaching, talent, injuries, leveled playing field, poor recruiting and most importantly No commitment from the administration.

We need to split the next two games and hope to go .500 in the Patriot League.
18  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Eastern Washington @ Fordham on: September 16, 2017, 01:37:47 pm
Our offensive line is getting dominated.  Special teams is again not very special today.  Two terrible punt snaps.  Defense is actually playing ok.  Nice INT.
19  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Chasing Greatness Documentary on: September 16, 2017, 11:58:04 am
You certainly are.

Time will tell....is it you or me.
20  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Chasing Greatness Documentary on: September 14, 2017, 01:02:53 am

This is the second time you've said "he may never be the same." Why are you saying that? Do you know something we don't? RBs get ankle sprains, they miss time, and they come back. Unless its something much more serious, there's no reason to believe he wont be the same once he's healed. If he tries to come back too early, or play hurt, he obviously wont be 100% but that's a far cry from "may never be the same."

Are you just being a sensationalist? I'm asking in all seriousness. What's up?

Did you see Chase at practice today?  No.  He is still on crutches.  It is a high ankle sprain.  This injury will linger all year.

You never answered my questions from above.  Why did this come out now?
21  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Chasing Greatness Documentary on: September 14, 2017, 12:54:38 am
If Ram-Louse thinks it's stupid, it must be okay. If you look up "negative" in the dictionary, you'll see his picture there, as the perfect illustration.

Clueless!
22  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Chasing Greatness Documentary on: September 13, 2017, 01:09:45 pm
What about it bothers you so much? the production quality? the plot line? do you think this is going to be used as bulletin board material? Are you worried that we blew our cover, and now teams know we have a great running back?! Ooops!

Let's say that we all (99.9%) agree that this "documentary" is a good thing.....Then why didn't it come out the week of or week before the West Point game?  Why now?  What makes it even more embarrassing is the fact that It comes out the day that it is publicly acknowledged that Chase is severely injured and most likely won't play for a few weeks and may not ever be the same as he was in the past.  The whole thing screams amateur-hour.
23  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Chasing Greatness Documentary on: September 13, 2017, 12:21:55 am
Good God this is stupidity at the highest level.  How high up the totem pole does this decision making go?  Head Coach, Roach, WHO???

I am actually shocked that we, as an institution, are approving of this.

Please, somebody on this board convince me that I am "negative" and that there is no issue with this going public.

24  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Fordham @ CCSU on: September 11, 2017, 03:21:19 pm
In a vacuum 4 penalties to open the game looks brutal. I've already broken down the penalties in another post above. I'll put the delay of game on Coach. The others? Not so much. You can make the argument that the frosh shouldn't have been out there, but I don't know the situation enough to comment. 4 penalties to open the game is terrible - I'm not making excuses. I'm just not attributing it so some sort of program tailspin either.

As far as the kicks... can anyone break that down? I haven't (and wont) watch film. Is it the kicker? Is the line missing assignments? Is the formation we're using not working? What's the problem? If its the kicker, do we even have another one to insert?

and then to add insult to injury we see this article in the New Jersey Herald of all places (I have never heard of it) that walks through a day in the life of AB as a coach.  The article mentions ZERO about Defense or Special Teams. (You would hope that the Head Coach at least acknowledges those two important aspects of the game).  With so much emphasis and "cheat sheets" and "old school" football coaching lingo being used in the article you would think that AB has recreated the revolutionary Wing T offense and opposing defenses are baffled by it.  Instead we look like a second rate lower tier Div. III team that hasn't won a game in 10 years.

This is why I am "worried" and "concerned".  If people view that as negative then I am sorry.  Please go put your "Rose-Colored" glasses on like 07.
25  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Fordham @ CCSU on: September 11, 2017, 02:48:49 pm
Discipline is a culture instilled by the coaching staff, led by the head coach.  It has nothing to do with extra running or grass drills or punishment for errors.  It's leadership.

I know that I've never seen anywhere a game start off with four penalties or 3 blocked kicks in two games.  Something is missing in AB's approach.

It must not be on Rich-Rod's cheat sheet that he uses.

Of course I'm going to minimize our FBS losses. Those teams were much, much better than us. No amt of coaching was going to change the outcomes of those games. We got smacked around because they were better football teams. It's going to happen when you play up a level. Its supposed to happen actually. I'm not putting anything into those losses.

My biggest issue with those losses is that we didn't get paid enough to lose to them.

nevermind, you don't get it.  Unpreparedness and lack of discipline are the Coaches fault.  Starting a game with 4 penalties, having a punting average of 20 yards and having multiple special teams breakdowns is terrible.  Having a Rich-Rod cheat sheet and being "old school" doesn't magically make your team a well-oiled machine.
28  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Fordham @ CCSU on: September 11, 2017, 12:44:19 pm
That was your point? I don't buy it... If it was, work on making that more clear in your initial post.

I agree that there should've been a coaching search. I'm just not throwing in the towel on AB two games into his second season... at 1-1 with 1 loss to an FBS team.

Pecora never succeeded as a coach at Fordham. Wittenberg basically snapped. Hill was a disaster for many reason. I can't believe you're associating AB with those names.

You minimize our two FBS losses......We didn't lose those games.  We were humiliated.  THAT WAS MY POINT.

Two of those losses were blowout embarrassments where we looked undisciplined, not prepared to play and the opposing teams were dominating us with 4th string players, One 4th string player being in street clothes (actually a Navy uniform) and pulled out of the stands to play.

29  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Fordham @ CCSU on: September 11, 2017, 12:35:42 pm
You're right - every FCS coach that gets blown out by an FBS team should be on the hot seat  Shocked

Missed the point......AGAIN.

So let me paint this picture for you....AB goes 8-3 last year.  Lets pretend that we go 8-3, 9-2 or possibly even 10-1 this year followed up by a 8, 9 or 10 win season next year.  Guess what happens in 2019?  We have a new coach.  Because he has left for greener pastures.  Yes, I am sure that Coach Joe gave AB a huge endorsement, as he should.  On paper AB is a great coach, but that is why Roach and the powers that be make the big bucks.  Zero coaching search?  Come on, that is foolish.  Do you have any clue who could have been the potential "qualifed" candidates that were interested in our position.  This is foolish.  We are allowed and should have this discussion here on these boards.  We spent years speculating about Hill, Wittenberg and Pecora.  Why can't we do it here?
30  The Fordham Forums / Fordham Football / Re: Fordham @ CCSU on: September 11, 2017, 12:23:55 pm
Coach is 9-4 and two of those losses were to FBS teams.

NO.  Two of those losses were blowout embarrassments where we looked undisciplined, not prepared to play and the opposing teams were dominating us with 4th string players, One 4th string player being in street clothes (actually a Navy uniform) and pulled out of the stands to play.
