A year ago I asked for a recommendation for a great restaurant near Lincoln Center. Many great recommendations were made to me, and my choice turned out to be awesome.

I know have a question about a different tier restaurant ........ I am taking two friends from a foreign country on the Circle Line "Harbor Lights" cruise. As you know,  it is located on 42nd and 12th Ave.

Could someone recommend an inexpensiverestaurant in that vicinity? I am looking for a good place, but one that is a bargain compared to the others in the area.

I am totally unfamiliar with the dining scene there (as is obvious!).

Last year, I was trying to impress a lady. This time with these two friends there is no reason to go all out.

Thank you all in advance for any and all suggestions you may make.

Although this is not a restaurant Steve ...... it might prove to be helpful.

If a woman on the West Side, in  really high heels, asks you or your friends if "you wanna date" ....it's not really a date...date.  Wink

Sure you are not confusing the location with the Chicken Ranch.

suggest McQuaid's Pub at 44th and 11th   very down to earth and cheap   old school menu     Landmark is classier

if you are into BBQ, Daisy May's on 46th and 11th is good

also, suggest you buy the higher priced ticket ( forget what they call it ) on your cruise   you get early boarding, a reserved seating area ( those boats can get crowded ) and waiter / waitress service at your seat ( makes a difference on a long cruise )

enjoy

It's been many years since I patronized the Landmark Tavern but I second AOC's recommendation. The food was very good and the experience of dining in that historic building is definitely worth the visit.

My old neighborhood. But none of the old places I remember are there anymore.

I do recall the women in heels, though. They were very nice to us local kids (proverbial hooker with a heart of gold types).

The tradition is to drink a toast to every bridge you pass under. Not a whole shot, just a sip.  Evil

The 1992 Senior Booze Cruise was a night to remember, but I don't recall much.  Shocked

If you did a shot for every bridge around manhattan, you'd never make it past 59th street.  Cool

It's a Booze Cruise.  Was that not the point?

Went to The Landmark Tavern on Thursday night. Thoroughly enjoyed it. It was sort of rushed because one of my two friends was 20 minutes late.

The Circle Line "Harbor Lights" cruise was awesome. I appreciate the advice to get the premium tickets....... it made for a great night.

MUCHAS GRACIAS !!!!!!!!!!!
