Last weekend, Fordham participated in four events: the Jesuit Interconference Regatta at City Island; the Intrepid Trophy Match Race at Navy, the Kings Point Dinghy Open and the Susan Rogers ’75 Memorial, a women’s interconference event at Cornell. Our rams placed 2nd, 3rd, 10th & 7th respectively at these four competitions.

Following are the highlights and order of finish for each event. For race-by-race/division details, please go to scores.collegesailing.org; click Fall 2016 in lower left corner; then scroll to Week 5 and click the regattas of interest.

Jesuit Interconference (Coed) Dinghy Regatta

This is one of Fordham’s two home regattas and it dates back to 1955 when Sailing was a varsity sport at Fordham. Incredibly, the original 61-year old trophy still exists.

Spirits were high and the team was delighted that it was able to fly its 9’x12’ Fordham flag off the Morris Yacht & Beach Club balcony.  Even Bronx-bound cars on the Throgs Neck Bridge may have seen it.

In A division, skipper Brad Seferian ’19 and crew Gabrielle Mascio ’18 finished in 3rd place.  In B division freshmen Tucker Hersam and William Dumke placed 2nd missing 1st place by only one point.
