The game is in St. Louis on Saturday at 8 pm ET.  This will be a tough one with their height.  Davis needs to watch her fouls.

Agree Tex. Also, Missry has to be a lot more consistent. Would be happy if we split the next two

I think teams have learned to pressure our 3 point shooters, thus we need the guards to penetrate to take the pressure off.  Missry can't do that.  She's a spot up shooter.

St. Louis has the height to defend Davis and Burns inside, but I'm not sure about their quickness.

It'll be interesting to see Coach Gaitley's game plan.

If Davis gets into foul trouble, we don't have the depth to get boards and defend the zone.

St. Louis is 16-5, 6-2, tied for 2nd in the A10 with us.  The top 2 teams get byes this year.

It's "Pink Out Day" there at Chaifetz Arena, a gym I wish we had (it seats 10,000).  There's a bigger crowd than we get for our MBB games - 6100!  Excellent pre-game production.  Makes ours look like high school.

SLU's goal is to get 40 points in the paint.  They are 7th in the nation is assists-to-turnovers.

We're down 14-4 early.  They are shooting 60% to our 30%.  We're 0-4 from 3.

I already started a thread, but no problem. SLU is getting inside on us with no problem at all. They have some really good passers getting the ball down low for an easy lay up. We need to tighten up. Our shooting has also been pretty cold. They look way better than us so far, and they really aren't. Lets get it going.

We're down 23-13 after a quarter.  They are shooting 67& and 50% from 3 to our 33% and 0%.

As suspected, they are defending our 3's.  Kreslina and Kelly driving is our best offense.  They have too much height.  At least Davis has no fouls yet.

I started one yesterday that I don't think you saw.

SLU is red hot.

We're down 39-29 at the half.  SLU is shooting 50% and 40%. We're at 38% and 9%.  That's the most points we've given up in any half all year.

They have 13 assists and 5 TOs vs our 5 and 5.

Davis and Kreslina have 8 points.  Missry is 0-3 from 3.  1 blocked, 1 air ball, 1 brick.

Davis only has 1 foul so she may be able to play even tougher defense down low.

Luckily we're well within reach even after our half to forget. Time to adjust and have a half to remember.

Kelly is a bit of an X Factor for us. Holden is fearless with her drive/pull ups.

Down 54-38 half way through the 3rd.  SLU is 9-18 from 3 vs our 2-12.

Not our night. Still time left, but we are not in sync at all. SLU is doing whatever they want to us. Their size is really hurting us.

Down 62-43 after 3.  Kreslina has 13 points; Davis 12.

Worst defensive display (or best offensive by them) that I've seen all year.  They get any shot they want inside, then knock down the 3 when it's covered.

Even their guards are way bigger than us.

SLU kept the lead even with their subs in.

We lost 82-58 and go to 15-8, 6-3.  It's our 2nd worst loss all year behind the ND game and ND only scored 67.  We shot 36% and 10% from 3 to their 56% and 50%.  They had 38 points in the paint, 2 shy of their goal.  The big difference was their outside shooting.

Davis led with 20 points and had 10 boards.

We next play a tough GW game on Wed in DC.

Not a good showing tonight. They were great, we were awful. There's no way to sugarcoat this blowout.

Kind of reminds me of the men's game earlier today.

Lets hope they come back strong next game. We have a really good team and it's time to get rid of the slump.

Over 6000 people there supposedly. Impressive.

Thanks for the updates and comments. Both men and women came up against some really effective outside shooting.

GW is going to tough but the last three games are all at home and very winnable. That said , a first round bye looks pretty remote

Here's the recap:  http://fordhamsports.com/news/2017/1/28/womens-basketball-outgunned-at-saint-louis.aspx

Although the score says 68-57 in the article when it should read 82-58.  Ryan needs to proofread his stories better.  I'm constantly sending him corrections.

After watching the men get demolished on TV, I had hopes of seeing a decent game live from the women. But they never seem to shoot well from the outside at the Chaifetz Arena.  Unfortunately the team looked somewhat listless and I wondered whether there was still some sickness going around.  Whenever anyone came out of the game to the bench, it looked like they were in pain.  When they tried to double up on Stipanovich, she found the open shooter for the trey.  When they tried to go one on one with her, she went to the basket and scored.  Last time we played them here, she was very tentative - very big improvement since then.  I always try to watch Missry because she was the one who called me in her freshman year to thank me for my donation to the team, but she wasn't able to do anything on Saturday.  The Arena is very nice, though you do have to go through "airport-like security" to get in, which slows up everything.  Glad I got there early.
