That you've seen? That's a good way to do this actually and can avoid some arguments.

Trevor Diggs? Did he ever make it to RH?

I have seen them all play: Ed Conlin
                                      Jim Cunningham
                                      Charles Yelverton
                                      Kenny Charles
                                      Bill Mainor

Followed Fordham Basketball since 1955!!  ( I was younger back then)

I think I could come up with many combinations, but I think I am going to just go with this one. I started watching FU basketball in the Fall of 1989.

C - Damon Lopez
PF - Bryant Dunston
SF - Fred Herzog
SG - Bevon Robin
PG - Jay Fazande

Dunston and Robin would be playing where they truly belonged. Lopez was a beast on both ends of the floor. Herzog was, in my opinion, the most complete basketball player I have seen at Fordham.  Fazande would make that group run like a well oiled machine.

He did not. UNLV. Prop 48. He would have been a game changer.

Twenty years later, maybe it's Tre Evans.

Respectfully, you can't compare eras. Ashanti Burke would have been Bill Russell on that 1955 team.

I go back to late 60s but any team has to have Yelverton and Charles. We really have not had any players like that since. I would favor Daryl Brown over Dunston by a slight margin at Center and would want Paterno as my wing forward. After that the debate for the 5th slot is wide open. Gaston would be one of the better choices.

What do you think would be the best all time Fordham starting 5 team...?
Is the goal just to name a personal All-Star team, or opine on potentially the best unit playing together?  We've had talented players and stat sheet stuffers who would have to be considered among our best of all tiime, but wouldn't crack the starting five if I was coaching to win games - Smush, Gaston and Paschall are the first three who come to mind in that category.  Looks like Ace gave this some thought.

I have to replace Bevon with Smush.  Pure talent wise Smush was the only NBA player we've had.   It is also really tough leaving Prioleau and J-Rock off the team.

Bill Mainor was a dormmate and friend of mine.  As good as I thought he was (even with his line drive jumpers), I don't think he makes the top 5.  I wouldn't disagree with Langheld as a possible top-5 option though.  He helped us set the home in-a-row win record.

Just a reminder that Kenny Charles played in the NBA for five years.

Starting in 2000. I'm going small

C -Dunston
PF - Mike Haynes
SF - Paschall
SG - Bev
PG - Smush

I would worry about the defense. But probably the most talent on the floor. Gaston could replace Haynes.
