BUS
« on: July 13, 2017, 02:21:58 pm »

Silly question but does Fordham have its own bus for athletics ?
This summer I've seen Lehigh, Fairfield, Cornell and Manhattan College busses around the city. I've never seen a coach bus for Fordham.
Just curious.

I do not believe so.
I would imagine the folks on rose hill have done the due diligence of owning a bus?

some of these schools do a great job as they are moving advertisements.

Those things can cut both ways. Nice for the exposure, but an open target for vandalism and the like from drunken fans of opponents.

I've thought the same thing that it would be a good rolling advertisement.

I didn't consider the vandalism aspect, good point 85.  However, per Chaka buses are very expensive to buy and maintain, and Fordham is really stretched on budget.

There are also the legal and PR implications that come with owning the bus and hiring the driver, should there ever be any sort of accident.  BTW, finding a good reliable driver with a CDL license and clean driving record (important in case there is an accident and lawsuit) is no small feat given the competition for those folks.

We have the Ram Vans. I think we're okay on this front.

I doubt most of these schools own the buses. I also doubt it is their own driver, though they might get the same ones based on contract with the bus company.

I saw a Monmouth U bus as well. Very impressive.  Perhaps these buses can be leased?  Good PR/exposure for the school, and very cool for the athletes as well......evokes pride and prestige.

I am 99% sure they are leased in most cases.

Knowing Fordham, when they decide to do it, instead of advertising themselves on a bus, they will do it on the cheap by placing it on smart cars.

Can you imagine how many buses they would need if they went with that newer tagline ("New York is my campus")?  They might need some of those accordion type buses.

We use Academy, been using them for years. West Point has nice buses too.

I'd rather use the money for painting maintaining and keeping a bus on scholarships.

Keeping a bus on scholarship violates NCAA rules!

Not necessarily so, it depends on whether the bus hired an agent or not.

A bus wrapped in athletics images would be great marketing.  Do something.  Make a deal with the bus co.  Think outside the box, think big, take a shot.  Surprise me to the upside.
