Hard to believe, three weeks away from opening the regular season. (and two weeks from the scrimmage)

Miami (OH) was 11-21 last year. If I'm not mistaken, their top player Michael Weathers transferred to Oklahoma State (and his brother, Marcus to Duquesne)

New HC Jack Owens, I'm not familiar with him or system.

Not a bad way to open the season.

Miami of Thee Ohio.

not quite, I believe the rebranding has killed off The Ohio.

fyi, recent scrimmage w/ video posted to their website: http://www.miamiredhawks.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/102117aab.html

Two front-court players, McLane and Bowman may be the best they have to offer.

You do realize that Miami University of Ohio was established about 40 years before the village of Miami was begun in Florida, right?  And over 100 years before Miami University was established in Florida?   Roll Eyes

There is no Miami University in Florida.

Sorry, Peter.

Relax Peter. It is a week before the first game of the OCC. If you have some insight, would love to hear it.

I’d like to hear it too, so Wyoming Seminary talk can stop there, thanks.

And Breukelen is in the Netherlands. And Vancouver in Washington state, they renamed it Fort Vancouver to end the confusion. And there is no California University out west.

Well, all I know is that Miami (O)'s basketball team is working under a first-year coach who previously served as Associate Head Coach at Purdue. They're picked for the bottom of the MAC, their backcourt is pretty thin, and hopefully we blow past them and get our season off to a positive start.

I see the now that the former Reserved Seats behind the team benches - which are now chairbacks - went up to $25.  A bit steep.

88% chance that I will have more than 7 beers watching the game.  Over under is 13.

As to this game, I think it will be very tight. rams 71 hawks 67

Not worthy of its own thread here is a tweet from Hawkins about Neubauer.  Great to see.

I’ll be forever thankful for @FUCoachNeubauer you’ve helped me beyond basketball. Nothing against my other coaches but you saw something in me and I’m glad that I’ve discovered that “something”. I appreciate you forever coach! Wish you a GREAT/SUCCESSFUL season 🙏🏾🤝

The computers agree. T-Rank has it 72-64.

They lost the Weathers brothers, 2 of their top 3 scorers as frosh last year. Michael transferred to Oklahoma State, Marcus to Duquesne (ah, I see Peter mentioned this in first post). McLane looks pretty good.

Best seats in the house. Worth it.

When you consider our track record, it's steep. When you consider our conference, in-conference opponents and sightlines, it's somewhat of a bargain. If we fielded a VCU-level team, who knows what those seat prices would be? That's the problem with a 3200 seat gym I guess.

I agree its worth $25, easily. Unless Michael Kay is sitting in front of you, for obvious reasons.

Any news on Bunting's shoulder coming into this game?  Pre-game notes?

Tickets are cheap compared to other schools.  No news on bunting yet probably hear later in the week.

Need more information. Are these bud lights? I'll take the over at 4.5 before we break for the half. Are we talking about high abv IPAs or Stouts? That changes everything!

For what it is worth Miami O lost their scrimmage yesterday to division 2 Maryville by 4.  On their board they were complimentary of the play of their freshmen. As far as the negatives they spoke about a lack of aggressiveness with the D as well as looking poor running offensive sets.  They felt that their offense looked much better coming out of transition.  Also not happy with their rebounding.  Home sick today had some time on my hands.  Bringing 3 or 4 down on friday.  In honor of bmann: Go Rams
