Need more information. Are these bud lights? I'll take the over at 4.5 before we break for the half. Are we talking about high abv IPAs or Stouts? That changes everything!

No Girls (Coors)  Lites.

Looking forward to this game. seems like a good opponent for the start of season.

For what it is worth Miami O lost their scrimmage yesterday to division 2 Maryville by 4.  On their board they were complimentary of the play of their freshmen. As far as the negatives they spoke about a lack of aggressiveness with the D as well as looking poor running offensive sets.  They felt that their offense looked much better coming out of transition.  Also not happy with their rebounding.  Home sick today had some time on my hands.  Bringing 3 or 4 down on friday.  In honor of bmann: Go Rams

When you consider our track record, it's steep. When you consider our conference, in-conference opponents and sightlines, it's somewhat of a bargain. If we fielded a VCU-level team, who knows what those seat prices would be? That's the problem with a 3200 seat gym I guess.

We should be happy to have such a problem.  Let's hope this is the year...

Too high, suggests 15-point W.

Nothing makes me more nervous than Fordham fan optimism.

I would like to see a double digit victory. However, more important than the score will be the assist to turnover ratio and the number of Miami's turnovers compared to ours.

Granted it was Fredonia, but we had a 2.5 to 1 assist to turnover ratio and they had 2,5 turnovers to each one of ours. Chartouny playing off the ball should help with these stats.

GO RAMS.

Any idea who's starting for us besides Chartouny?

I think this team goes as far as Neubauer's coaching skills can take it. Most years we talk about what individual players bring to the table. This year, we're talking team strategy and execution.  Should be fun watching, as long as we stay healthy.

Evans Tavares and Ohams will start with Chartouny. Question is does Slanina start or Raut.  I think Raut starts. No update on Bunting in the game notes.

I agree. Probably a good move by JN to let Slanina sit and observe the flow of action for six or seven minutes and avoid a touch foul or two.

I'm also hoping JN institutes a new rule for Slanina this year..  You are not allowed above foul line on half-court D !

no reason to have your 6'10  C/PF  trapping at the 3 point line at the top of the key causing him additional ticky tack fouls  and leaving underneath the basket open wide open.

Also, don't leave your feet trying to block every single shot. Stay composed.

So what you are saying is that you want JN and Crawford to change the way they have the team play defense.

As you hint with your post, ainít gonna happen.  As with most bigs Slanina will continue to fouls less as he plays more.  See Rhoomes, Ryan.  Trapping high with a big can be effective remember trying to get around Watanabe last year at the top of the 1-3-1.  Some are going to have to get use to a few things:

1. We are going to shoot a lot of threes
2. We are going to trap with everyone
3.  We are going to give up some easy baskets because of the trapping so donít look at opposing teams shooting percentage it will be high.
4.  Half court offense will be deliberate because we want to limit possessions which makes our steals more valuable.
5. We will be a bad rebounding team offense and defense. Let me spare some the complaint that we are at half court before our three pointer hits the rim.  Why is that?  We want to defend create turnovers and that canít happen if the other team is out in transition. Get used to it.

I am also quite optimistic about this game and the start of the season (sorry to make Ace more nervous).  I think one of the keys to this whole season will be the development of Chuba.  I look for him to rebound, block shots with his long arms and to play great defense, hopefully.  I also hope that he develops his offensive game to give us a presence inside for the times we are not shooting the 3.

The D is effective. However,it leads to fouls. That's why Bunting is so important...Chuba and Slanina are near certain to foul out....but no changing D...it works..it's a tradeoff

that's exactly what I'm saying!    Grin

trap, pressure , double team , high energy all you  want.  but when  SP  is in game..  then is no reason for him to be out around the 3 point line on D.    Wink    he's 6'10 and foul prone as it is..   switch  or  have a 3rd guy come double team and have SP take his man.
