Otherwise known as the undercard to the soccer match  Grin

The Black Bears are the quintessential small conference program who lose most of the talent they draw to transfers (Isaac Vann VCU, Kevin Little who dropped 25 on us 2 years ago Colorado St, Devine Eke Rider).  They also lost a frontcourt starter from last year to hip surgery. Bob Welch is a throwback coach who may be too intense for the setting.

Aaron Calixte has stuck around and is a solid lead guard, Trae Bryant is his backcourt mate transferring in from UNC Asheville. They have a couple of lunchpail forwards Fleming and Stojiljkovic. And they have an athletic Turk we somehow missed, Ilker Er, though hes a senior.

UMaine takes about 23 3s a game and misses a lot of them, though in their sole win vs Quinnipiac they hit 14.  Quinny just beat UMass. We should be something like 13 point faves but given where we are now it will likely be closer.

As a Maine hockey fan, I have a soft spot for all Black Bear sports, but I kind of can't imagine sitting through this one. We should roll, but we may not...  Shocked

Didn't they have a vicious locker room fight last year?  Oh yeah, just another slav getting his jaw brokern by a teammate:

Anyway, a must win.  Let's make it a romp, please.

Lots of doom and gloom around here and I get it. I am very disappointed by both the losses and the injuries. I think Rich was smart to remind people the situation we were in last year. We had lost 9 of 10 and Hawkins and AA looked lost. One win against Davidson turned the entire season around and we played 7 guys in that game.

It is yet to be seen who could be our Hawk, AA, and Sengfelder this year but guys will get a chance. Taveres can certainly play the part of Hawk. Will Perris Hicks be our AA? Can Raut and Pekarek give us something resembling CS? Can JC get his Mojo back?

It is way too early to call this a lost season but guys will need to step up and improve just like guys stepped up last year.

Brave of you, but i like it.

I need to see Evans break the perimeter and see if we can get some set 3s off of that or some open lanes for Chartouny to drive and shoot.

How many of those from the line? His ability to take it to the hole and draw contact seems his greatest asset at this point.

5 from the line. 2 3's. 7/13 from field. 21 total.

I watched Maine plaY Georgetown earlier this week. The Black Bears never gave up and played hard to the final whistle. The Hoyas height and better shooting was the difference. The spread was 24 and I believe they eventually lost by 21, but were within 10-15 at times during the second half. Holding Calixte and Er in check will be key. I expect a big game from Tavares and Slanina.

I see what you did there, let the record show that YOU, 85, are the FIRST to cite what will hopefully be the first of many routs lead by Raut...I'm all in on that.  Nicely played.

These next two games are "The New England Challenge"- when we win, we get all the lobster and chowda we can eat.  These are not the so called "winnable games", they are games we should win.

Enjoy the game Scott W 86 and BTW re your post-game repast, remember that with your ticket stub you get a one free when you buy a sandwich at Mike's deli.*  I tried it and it works.   Mangia! and, oh yes, GO RAMS!

Horrible sequence for Manhattan. Up 3 with about 45 seconds left good d but Towson layup down 1.  Manhattan holds but throws it away with 8 seconds on shot clock.  Towson misses, but capuano fumbles rebound out of bounds. Now under review but another miss and out of bounds to Towson. 3 seconds left.

Not sure why I care but I'll take anything that looks better for Fordham.

Yeah.  JC missing 3s still.  Havsa doesn't want to shoot.  He got low but having been blocked earlier made a tough in close pas to Slanina, who managed to handle it and scored going left.  Not good D so far.

shot clock violation.....

Sad.  Raut bricked an early 3, then passes up an open 2 point jumper for the shot clock violation.

And Pekarek limping.
