sidiki johnson lands at providence after i bet the ranch he would have ended up at iona. It seems that him and his "handlers" were just too much to handle and now ed cooley will have to deal with them. Also, Daquan Brown, originally from brooklyn, just committed to hofstra after 2 successful seasons at barstow cc. We could have used either one of these guys but were either one of them worth the trouble? Hofstra seems to be putting together a nice roster for next season with transfers and juco's which could either be a home run or a strike out. We need a Juco big man who is ready to contribute 7 and 7 next season.

I notice that Roland Brown, big 6ft 8 behomoth from CK is no longer on Hofstra's roster. I believe we may have recruited him, saw him play at RHG against Frazier's Loughlin team......anyone know where he is? He looked like a bit of a project but he did put a big body on Pinkston in that game and played him fairly well.......

Looks like he is playing in Florida for Gulf Coast State College: http://www.gcathletics.com/basketball/mens/roster.htmThis guy was a pretty solid NYC player the few times I saw him.

Yeah, he looked pretty good when I saw him but I think he had an issue either with grades or knees or both. He is a big body.
8 points a little over 4 rebounds per game.....at JUCO.....good find 95

From Recruit Scoop today. I guess this answers my question from last week about who TP was watching at the Molloy-HC game.
TheRecruitScoop Alex Kline Cj Davis, a 2014 PG from Archbishop Molloy (NY), was just offered by Fordham.

Davis also has offers from Seton Hall, Washington and South Carolina. He has a 96 GPA at Molloy. Here is Zach Braziller's blog on him: I'd put the impressive pass-first point guard on my all-selfess team along with Lincoln's Isaiah Whitehead. He can probably score 30 points per game with Team Underrated, but prefers to set up teammates instead. As a result, the under-the-radar AAU program took home the Super Showcase 15s crown. Davis, a standout rising sophomore with an improving jump shot and ability to get to the rim on a whim, already has offers from Washington and South Carolina, but more on the way.

I have heard from reliable scources that we can not recruit JUCO players anymore. If this is true, why? We have one more ship for next year. I believe that TP has his eye on some forwards from the class of 13, but we need a big to replace Bristol in the worst way. I also would guess that we will have at least one more ship open up. TP needs to find another Kervin somewhere on this planet for next season. Does anyone know if he is looking for one?

ramfan01, we cannot recruit a JUCO or we do not want to recruit a JUCO? I cannot understand why we cannot. Did you ask the reliable source why?

Strange as it may sound, no. I was more focused on the game at that point last week. Then I heard it from someone else today and they didn't have an explanation. I'll find out at the game next week. We could sure use another Kervin.

I believe it. We have some strange standards. It's happened before where we let some questionable players in, but not others. It is like we think we can be just a little bit pregnant That said we just signed a JUCO for football, so I don't see why we'd have that restriction for hoops. Oh yeah, that little bit pregnant thing.

Agreed. Which is why I understand when they won't let certain guys in, although it does bother me I also get that they took a look and have a reason. The no JUCO thing would bug me because it knocks a guy for going that route yet getting kids from prep school who are there for very similar reasons is ok though. I should shut up, I might give them ideas.

The one JUCO on our roster, Kervin Bristol, is supposedly a good student. Am I wrong on that?

I know nothing of Kerwin's grades, but on the court and off he appears to be a role model. You don't see him trash talking or getting on the refs, and I have never heard of his use of social media in a bad way.
I agree JUCOs should be judged on a case-by-case basis. Frankly, the same can be said of prep schools. It all depends on the reputation of the JUCO/prep and the how the player applied himself in the classroom.

I have heard the same. The funny thing too is that a JUCO transfer does not hurt our academic numbers (for US News and similar) the way freshmen hurt those numbers. Not saying that hurts much either in the grand scheme of things.

For us to block out any source of fruitful recruiting, such as JUCOs, would enormously hurt our chances of recovery. Some might even say it's insane not to at least keep the JUCO option open.

+1 and until I hear this from a member of the staff, I am going to assume it is not true. Not doubting that someone told 01 this but I doubt that the information is accurate.

Just Damon Lopez aloe out of that group, would agrue that its worthwhile to consider JUCOs. Add in Bristol, Parker, Berland, Berrian, and to a lesser extent Griffin,t's apparent that they have made a substantial contribution to the program.

Yes it is Jesuit. As an aside, we have at least two posters on here with strong connections to Marquette.

Back in the day... (when I went to Fordham) there were banners hanging up from all of the Jesuit Colleges & Universities in the USA. I think the building was Dealy Hall but I could be mistaken... Wonder what ever happened to those banners?

Have we stopped recruiting Jalen Jenkins of Hayes? If yes, why? This will not be good if we lose him to another local program.
Tweets today from Zach Braziller:
NYPost_Brazille Zach Braziller Quinnipiac has also offered Jenkins. GW, Temple, George Mason, Drexel all involved in senior forward. #boyshoops 20 minutes ago NYPost_Brazille Zach Braziller Iona is in on Jalen Jenkins heavy, Hayes assistant Joel Shapiro said. I guess if we stopped recruiting him, we technically can't lose him. You got me on that one. I thought we were recruiting him very hard. I just hope we didn't give away the scholarship because we thought he was leaning to Temple and out of our reach.....and then he goes to Iona.

Agreed. As far as we know we still have one to give. Maybe he removed himself from our list.

If that should turn out to be the case, I would find it extremely discouraging if we lost an outstanding big man prospect from a CHSAA school in The Bronx to Iona.

Maybe he saw the half-time piece that aired during this past Saturday's game against Charlotte.
