my biggest concern with Canty is that it appeared to me at times that he had a case of Stone Hands. He mishandled a number of rebounds and dropped a bunch of passes. He also had 0 touch on the free throw line. You cannot really fix stone hands.

Maybe he should eliminate at least a few schools first?

So the guy would be a sophomore in 2013-14 season and be 23?  That's just a big overall disaprity age wise with the rest of your class.  We seem to do better with kids right out of high school, Gaston notwithstanding.

Sounds as if he might apply for a waiver so he would not need to sit out a year. We would have two scholarships still available if there is another transfer out.

Epps will transfer for family-related reasons, coach Jamie Dixon announced Wednesday. He’ll try to find a school closer to his Plainfield, N.J. home.

Upon further review, I do not think this would be a good transfer for us.

I still wonder what characteristic you'd add to Canty's game that would make you feel better about him heading into next year since I really think that for a 6'9 guy who is not rail thin, this is as good as our program could hope for at this point.  Part of the problem is that he had to play at all imo.  Would have been much, much better for his overall development imo if we had the luxury of red shirting him last year.

To answer your question more basketball instincts. On offense he would just move around and try and set picks but for the most part did nothing. I would have liked to see him try and post someone or take a 10 foot jump shot or something in that range. Most of his points were either off rebounds or dunks and as someone else said he often fumbled passes on the inside. On defense he was out of position and slow to react which is why he committed fouls. I also did not see him boxing out all that well. Honestly if we did not red shirt him he should have played more in place of Eastwick just to get experience and developmental time. Sitting on the bench did no good and left questions unanswered.

Why?

We already have 7 guards on the roster for next year and a verbal from an 8th guard for 2013. That is not a list of powers that he is reported to be considering.

In 103 minutes played last season, he scored 2 points on 1-16 shooting (0-12 from three) and was 0-3 from the line.

Zach Braziller NY Post on 4/11:

Notes: Cardinal Hayes forward Jalen Jenkins confirmed he is going to prep school despite a handful of mid-major Division I offers. The 6-foot-7 forward, who will play this spring and summer with New Heights, is in the process of filling out applications for potential destinations. He said he would like to attend Blair Academy in New Jersey, but is also considering Brewster Academy in Maine, The Peddie School in New Jersey and South Kent in Connecticut. “On the college level, I’m going to need to be bigger and stronger,” he said.

I think we need to stay with him.  I like him as a player for us.

I have read that Reggie Agbeko is an intelligent young man. So I am certain he will see that Marquette, Oklahoma and Auburn have signed and continue to recruit several guys that play his position. At Fordham he has a good opportuinty to be the heir apparent to Chris Gaston.

Alex Kline‏@TheRecruitScoop
New Canisius coach Jim Baron is close to offering 2012 Plainfield (NJ) PG Sekou Harris.

That would be a good signing for Canisius. I think he was our backup if Myers had opted elsewhere.

If we get the kid from Buffalo and the deck is flushed as has been indicated, might not be so bad next year.  How good is this kid?

Wasn't Reggie in the discussion for New York State Mr. Basketball.  Last NYS Mr. Basketball we had was Andre McClendon -- there was a guy who could drain jumpers.

I'm told Agbeko is still raw and benefitted a lot from his length in high school, but is a good, coachable kid.  Rebounds and blocks shots, much needed from the forwards on our squad.

Had a disappointing run in the playoffs, but would be a decent signing for us.

Reggie Agbeko would be a "decent" signing for us?  Huh? Published reports in the last few days say he has offers from and is considering Marquette, Oklahoma, Auburn, URI and Fordham. When was the last time we REALLY competed with programs such as that for a recruit? And I don't mean the fake recruiting under Grasso.
