6' 6' Jake Fay, who has verbally committed to Fordham, is ranked the 6th best scoring guard in New England according to this ranking. Fordham recruiting target Dayson Smith, who we have offered, is ranked the 3rd best point guard. Another recruiting target that we have offered, PF Dekeeba Battee, is also ranked 4th here: http://ballastv.com/Basketball-Prospects-2013

The ESPN rankings are old and will be updated on August 8th. Here is a Video from Fay after the Elite 75 tournament that he played in at the beginning of July. I think it is actually a really mature move by Fay to not spend the summer traveling all over to AAU tournaments. Those events are for exposure so team play is not a priority and they do very little to develop skills. Fay is probably much better off spending the summer working on skill development although selfishly I would have loved to see him play in the big AAU tournaments to see how he stacks up against top competition. Eventually we will see that when he starts the Prep season at Brimmer and May.

One thing that needs to be noted is that ESPN has slowly but surely been adjusting their ratings down. Now only ture elite players get a 90 rating. I believe Jio was a 88 but if he was a recruit this year I bet he would be much closer to a 85. Leonard's 40 just means they haven't seen him yet to evaluate him. Also I bet Mandell Thomas' rating hasn't been updated since he had a big Prep year at Notre Dame Prep.

I thought they previously had Thomas as a 40. Could be mistaken. 80 is pretty solid tho.

So is Jared going for the white James Harden look or something? I know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover (and the topic has been beaten to death) but it's still unfathomable to me that the coach of a team with a 5-59 conference record over the past four seasons would give a multi-year scholarship to that kid. If Pecora goes on any more recruiting trips to Brimmer & May I'm going to take a 10 year Fordham basketball hiatus.

Shouldnt matter either way...as long as he plays hard on the court, does well in school, and doesn't do anything to his body that would offend the general public.

That last part is extremely subjective. Given the average age of our fans (season ticket holders), the offensive meter might be diffferent than what you expect.

Nothing replaces success in the revenue sports. Nothing. That's not to take away from the success in the Olympic sports - they do matter. It isn't a replacement for success in the flagship sports. - Debbie Yow, AD - NC State

I don't know Ace. I think back to some of the things that went on while I was in college and I don't think todays students could be any worse. Of course you younger alum may have cleaned up your act a lot more that when I was there.

I would think most kids and young adults don't even think twice about someone with a bunch of tattoos whereas someone older might think they look ridiculous even if in the end they accept them as what kids do these days.

I have to agree with you on the tattoos. But we had the Hippie Generation and their dress (or lack of it) might be considered a little extreme even by today's standards. I remember passing the Freshman dorms (can't remember the name) and the whole area reeked of grass. Of course the Jesuits may not have recognized the odor at that time. And I wouldn't be able to sing some of the songs we did back then - they were baad!

Are you sure that you remember the words to those songs?

And that is ironically the first time anyone has used the term "grass" since before Frank was the AD.........

Hey, some people swear by the synthetic stuff.
Tug McGraw was once asked what he thought of the Astrodome's synthetic grass. He replied "I don't know. I never smoked it."

Sorry for the first post to be bad but i root for Fordham and could not take all of the gloating on the MAAC board. Do not understand the good feeling people get from a kid being impacted like this. lets hope it is not true

So you're registered on the MAAC board, but weren't registered here until 30 minutes ago?

Have the balls to say you are from the MAAC board and want to know if what they are saying is true and start the ball rolling here. Do not be a puss boy, man up.

I thought you were a Fordham fan, but now you are a NY college hoops fan who happens to be registered on many boards? If that is the case why weren't you already registered here? Do not let the door hit you in the ass on the way, you are gutless.

Gutless ?? too funny. You are taking yourself and your board a little too serious. You just confirmed what other boards say and think about Fordham...like I said have a good season.
