Potomac did beat Georgetown Day School 61-57 on Friday night to advance to the MAC Final against Flint Hill.  There is no boxscore posted yet.  So, there is no word on how Brian Freeman fared.  The championship game is at 5 p.m. on Saturday at FH.

Potomac lost to #1 Flint Hill 83-67 on 1/31.  Brian and one other starting teammate missed this first game vs. Flint Hill due to injury.  So, it will be interesting to see how Potomac fares in the rematch.

Brian Freeman had 12 points in last night's game. Flint Hill also beat Potomac 59-36 on 2/14. In tonight's game, take Flint Hill -15.

Lance Brown reaggravated a knee injury and may be out of action for two weeks. It does not appear to be a serious injury. He is experiencing soreness and stiffness in the same knee that he had surgery on back in January. They are being cautious rather than risk more damage and will have him rest the knee.

New Hampton beat a good Winchendon team, with 6'10" (Kansas State) and 6'7" (UMass) big men on 2/21 by 81-59. No numbers yet for Chris Gaston.

Chris Gaston and Lance Brown have been selected to play in the Jordan Brand Classic at MSG on 4/18.
It is interesting that an RMU recruit has also been selected.

The following is from Zagsblog

Jordan Brand Regional Selections
Posted on Feb 22, 2009 2:41 pm
The Jordan Brand Classic will take place April 18 at Madison Square Garden and while the selections for the National Game have already come out, those for the Regional Game won’t be officially released until March 18. However, I’ve verified several players through a variety of sources and below are the players I know have been invited. Whether they choose to play is another matter. If anyone knows of additional players who were chosen, please let me know.

G Karon Abraham, Paterson (N.J.) Eastside (Robert Morris)

F Lance Brown, Paterson (N.J.) Catholic (Fordham)

F Chris Gaston, New Hampton (N.H) (Fordham)

G Omari Lawrence, South (Conn.) Kent (St. John’s)

F Dane Miller, Rush-Henrietta (Rutgers)

G Kevin Parrom, South (Conn.) Kent (Xavier)

G Keith Spellman, Thomas Jefferson (Undecided)

G Brandon Triche, Jamesville-DeWitt (Syracuse)

G Sherrod Wright, Mount Vernon (Undecided)

It's great to see Gaston and Brown get invites, and I'm hoping we can add one more player from that list.

Agreed, can anybody say Sherrod Wright?

IMO, I think Blue will transfer out after this year. I have no inside source or anything, nor do I want him to leave- I just think he will. Wright would be a great replacement if it was necessary.

Agree on Blue leaving also w/no inside source but it looks like it will be on friendly terms.

The Journal News published Kevin Davaney Jr.'s guide to boys (HS BB) today. For Class AA, MVP favorite - Sherrod Wright, Mount Vernon. Top player in Section 1, hands down.

Hope he wants to play close to home and selects Fordham.

Chis Gaston did not play in New Hampton's last two games- on 2/20 and 2/21. There is no further information as to the reason. Hopefully, it is only a minor injury or illness.

Does anyone have any more information?

So it's not OK to post rumors and speculation about the coach, but it's OK to post about a 19-year old?

Not speculation just a feeling based on what is going on in his life and his leave of absence from the team. I thought I clarified that in my post.

How is a feeling that something might happen different than speculation?

A feeling is an intuition that may or may not have a basis in fact. Seculation is taking a posibility and trying to convince others it has to be a fact. I wasn't trying to convince anyone that my feeling was true. That's why I said I had no inside confirmation on it.

I think you're splitting hairs here, shortshot.  I don't recall anyone saying that he or she knew for a fact that DW would be gone, just that a) he should be gone, or b) some had heard the administration was very unhappy with him.  The main difference being, with DW, we were speculating about the ftuure of 47-year old professional, with Trey, you're speculating about a 19 year old amateur.

You have your opinion and I have mine. You are welcome to your opinion but I don't think this is worth putting any more time into. This thread it supposed to be tracking our Signed/Committed Recruits.

On 2/27 Brian Freeman had 20 points, 8 rebounds, 1 block as Potomac lost to a very good Christchurch team 77-64.

I see Brian giving us 6 points, 5 rebounds in 18 minutes and a much improved inside presence next year. And hopefully I am too low on those numbers.

Right now Jacob Green is averaging 6.4-3.5 in 24.3. 6-5-18 from Freeman as a freshman would be a great contribution, IMO.  Unless he is totally overmatched or gets Bethel-ed, Freeman should have every opportunity to earn plenty of playing time. Devine-Wing-Bethel will all be gone; while they are not exactly Parish-McHale-Bird (understatement of the year), at least they're all over 6'5" and had "Forward" next to their name in the program. Gaston and Gordon appear to be more 3/4 types as opposed to 4/5's, and Green hasn't really impressed thus far. If Freeman is capable, he could play a considerable amount next year.

From what I have been told, Freeman is solid and reliable as opposed to flashy. That would be fine with me. We will have enough of flashy in Jio, Gaston, Brown.

Brian Freeman's final season stats:

14.7 ppg, 10 rpg, 52% from the floor, 67% from the line, 3.6 blocks per.

If he is here next year, he will add rebounding and an inside presence. I can see him splitting the time with Green, depending on who is playing better that particular game. I see 18 minutes, 6 ppg and 5 rpg from Brian next year,

Yes, he has been practicing with the team.  I have heard he has fared well, but my thought when I hear that is, sure he is, look who he's playing against.

Unfortunately, that's my thought with Freeman, too. We were told some time ago he plays in a pretty weak league.

You know, it's possible to make a negative case for any of our incoming recruits. The only way we're going to know is when they are playing for the team.  Based on everything I can find out, Gaston and Brown have some real upside potential; Freeman may be good no matter where he plays.  Let's hope we get to see any of this pan out.
