Good to hear some positive news.  Upon reading the article, three players scored 69 of their 74 points.  All of them are guards, unless you take into account that Thomas was actually playing the 4, which he might end up doing at Fordham too.   In all seriousness, I watched him play one game, and he reminds me a bit of Marcus Stout.  I think someone else on this board said the same thing.  That wouldn't be bad at all if he has a similar career to MS.

Along with the normal set of high major stars, future Fordham guard Mandell Thomas had a strong showing in defeat.  Thomas scored 16 points by attacking along the baseline and making jump shots when his man doubled the post.  He also crashed the offensive glass and battled a much bigger Brewster front line having to play out of position at the 4.

This is why I am annoyed that I jumped to conclusions on Thomas's verbal.  Maybe he will contribute or maybe he won't but my initial reaction was too quick.  Best to wait and see what he does when he gets here.

It might have been me you were thinking of in regards to the Stout mention, but I did that more in that I thought their situations might be similar. On a team of higher caliber players, going under the radar type of thing.

I'm going through my files for recruiting reports on Jermaine Myers, and here's one from ESPN which is over a year and a half old:

Strengths:
Myers is a point guard with great pace and poise. He determines his own speed and is very rarely ratted into playing at a tempo other than that of his choosing. His poise comes through with his stone-faced demenor, which is a virtual constant during the course of the game. Physically, he owns a well built physique that he maximizes to get into the lane going in either direction. He finishes well through contact and is also a capable shooter from behind the three-point line.

Weaknesses:
Myers is more shifty than explosive and isn't the type of guy to blow right by his defender off the dribble. He can occassionally struggle to defend the ball, and typically those struggles correlate to the amount of space he is forced to contain without help. He also plays primarily under the rim and so has to make the most of his physical tools in order to finish. He hasn't shown a mid-range game and needs a decent amount of time and space in order to be accurate with his three-ball.

Bottom Line:
 He's got all the characteristics and intagibles you look for in a point guard. He knows how to manage a game and run a team and he's capable of making plays while also making good decisions with the ball in his hands.

Jermaine Myers, the 6-1 Canadian point guard now at Blair Academy (NJ), finally made his college decision.

The 2012 guard decided to end high speculation and commit to Fordham and coach Tom Pecora.

"I just feel like I have a really good relationship with the coach, the opportunity to play right away and coach Pecora has coached some really good guards in the past," he said. "I felt like it was a really good opportunity to step in and play for a really good coach."

Myers joins New York shooting guard Mandell Thomas, from Notre Dame Prep, in Fordham's 2012 recruiting class. The Rams will likely lean on Myers to be a playmaker early, as he gained a reputation as a poised point guard and that is exactly what kind of player Fordham needed in the backcourt leading the show.

"I think my playmaking ability," Myers said of what he will bring to Fordham. "They run a lot of ball screens so I think I'll be able to make a lot of plays and I'll shoot the ball well for them."

Myers chose Fordham over Western Kentucky, Valparaiso and Middle Tennessee to name a few. Myers is 100 percent sold on Fordham and coach Pecora, and plans to sign a National Letter of Intent this Wednesday on the NCAA recruiting signing day for Division I basketball players.

Sure could help b/c he's 7 ft or for some other reason?  I can think of some former college players, some of them Rams, who could not help CG despite them being in the 7 ft range.

Just read a scouting report that said former Fordham PG recruit Danny Lawhorn is at San Jaciento Junior College in Texas and averaged 10 points and 11 assists per game, leading the nation in assists on the Juco level.

I don't mind the occasional update regarding the departed (or, in Lawhorn's case, the never-arrived). But if I'm not mistaken, after going to a number of different high schools, and committing/de-committing from a couple of colleges, hasn't he gone JUCO-U. Maryland-Eastern Shore - JUCO again, all in the space of 2 years? What couldn't he handle at UMES? The MEAC-level basketball, the academics, what?

And I'm not so sure Lawhorn verbaled to Fordham as much as to a certain coach. That coach is now off recruiting JUCO players, so you never know . . . !

  Lawhorn never played at the college level other than at San Jacinto Junior College.  He decided not to go to Maryland Whatever.  What I think is notable is he led the nation on a high-level juco team in assists.  That's pretty impressive, and is why I posted this.  And Lawhorn verballed to Fordham.

Yeah, we really should've signed one of those McDonald's All-Americans who were interested in coming to Fordham.  I have no idea what to expect when Fay gets here, but that's not what the tweet said, and I'd be more concerned if he had already peaked.  What player doesn't make tremendous improvements after his sophomore year in high school?
