I'll wait for Ramburgh to post the official numbers, but if my math holds up, I believe Branden vaulted himself into the all-time Top Ten scorers tonight.

Tied for 10th, I think.  I love all Rams, but Jean Prioleau is right up there with my favs.  Branden is in good company.

Edit: bad math or I missed a game.  Ramburgh ,you da man!

Nothing replaces success in the revenue sports.  Nothing.  That's not to take away from the success in the Olympic sports - they do matter.  It isn't a replacement for success in the flagship sports. - Debbie Yow, AD - NC State

Thomas just barely ahead of Severe. While I thought Smith was a definite 1000 point scorer at the start of the season, now I am not so sure.

I't'll be close, but I'd guess that Severe gets there before Thomas. Thomas has a 125 point headstart, but for his career he's averaging about 6.5 ppg less than Severe. Part of that is skewed by not playing much early last year, but assuming he keeps the same pace, he'd reach 1,000 in about ~32 more games. If Severe keeps his current pace, he'd make up that 125 point gap in about ~27 games- before Thomas hits 1,000.

Come on Frazier, pass Gaston!  It's ok if it takes you 4 games to do it!! Wink

Well if Mandel were a gunner without a conscience as Severe is -- with the same un-rounded game -- he'd could  be way ahead. Evil

Severe is a scorer and is going to be a special player. I think that you will see his shot selection improve as well as drive to the basket more these next three years. What I hope he never loses is his scorer's attitude so yo speak as it will be what will set him apart from other players. Thomas is a very good player and will also continue to improve. I think they can both complement each other and be a very good back court.

Rhoomes is just about half way there, so it's possible.  Canty would need to lead the A-10 in rebounding to make it, which is actually possible if he plays like he did at the end of the season.

I dont care much about this Ramburg, but do find it interesting that you did not count our first game vs NYIT.

Please take note of this if you are going to post these stats.

Ramburgh, that is a good point brought up by ramfan01.  Those stats count.

It's been pointed out in the past, but in the "What if?" category, suppose freshmen such as my late, 1958 classmates, Jim Cunningham & Bill McCadney had been allowed to play varsity ball as frosh.

Cunningham is 5th on the All-time scoring list and averaged 581 points per year over three years. If he scored only half his current average as a freshman, his total would have been 2034, which would have placed him #1 on the All-time scoring list, 148 points more than Ed Conlin, who was probably our greatest player ever.

Bill McCadney is 5th on the Rebounding list with an average of 323 per year. If he averaged half his annual average as a freshman, he would move from 5th to 2nd on the list with a total of 1,129 rebounds. While he would be 80 rebounds out of third place, he would still remain significantly behind Ed Conlin.

Unfortunately, we cannot compare apples and apples but only speculate upon what might have been. I'm still in awe of their respective performances.

Joe, as I have mentioned before, Cunningham would have played alongside two other 1,000 point scorers had he been eligible as a freshman.  One of those other 1,000 point scorers was Ed Conlin, so something would have had to give.  I am not sure you could even assume half of his average.

Ace, as I indicated, it's all speculation. However, Cunningham was a scoring machine. Our frosh team went 20 - 0 and played its games prior to the varsity game. Halfway through the season, as the word spread on campus, the RHG was 3/4ths filled for the second half of the freshmen game. Cunningham would have definitely helped our varsity team win some more games. Conlin & Lyons probably would have scored somewhat fewer points but I believe that we would have not only won more games but the spread would have been greater in many games. After all, over a 20-game season, Cunningham needed to score only 142 more points or seven per game to surpass Conlin's total. If he averaged half his varsity points and scored 290 points to end up with 2,034, he would have had to have averaged 15 points per game. It is very hard for me to conceive of him averaging much less than that but even if he averaged only 10 points per game, he would have ended up with 1,944 and Conlin's total would probably be slightly lower than his record of 1,886.

Again, no one will ever know, but it's fun to look at the numbers and speculate.

I believe one year of rebounding stats for Bill Carlson is missing.  Add another 200-225 rebounds to his totals an he moves into or close to the top 5.

I was a young boy and watched Ed Conlin and Jim Cunningham on Ch. 13 WATV with Fred Sayles announcing. That's why I went to Fordham...!
