I don't think a .500 record for next season is unrealistic. I'd like to not only get to the A-10 tourney, but maybe win a game there before bowing out. While we may have a largely turned over roster, we will still be a young team, so if we fell short of the goal by a game or two, but played well, I wouldn't consider such a season a failure.

I would like to see some goals that are clearly defined here from the administration. You are paying this coach a lot of money. To me, that means you need define benchmarks of achievement and get evalauted, each year, based on hitting, missing or exceeding those goals.
To me, you have to set the tone as an AD or a President. For next season its .500 overall and A-10 tourney at a minimum. We cant keep having these new coaches come in and then have a 3 year cushion and an entire tenure with no defined goals and expectations.

No more excuses - he got ride of the players that he felt could not play in the A 10 - now coach the guys you brought in and get there. Noit asing for miracles, but an A 10 tournament appearance should be the minimum expected.
While I don't see how .500 is possible unless the A-10 is a disaster, the A-10 tournament should be a minimum expectation. Unfortunately, there is no hammer. They guy has a years on his contract so he's not exactly under the gun.

What about his self esteem? His reputation? His drive to succeed? Isn't that part of the reason that he was hired.

I think Pecora busts his ass and is never going to put it on cruise control. That said, If things don't pan out the way he wants them to on the court, it's not as if Fordham can give him an ultimatum after next year. There is no way that contract is going to be bought out.

The Administration doesn't measure the success the same way some of the posters on this Board do. While some of us may set a higher stardard, it's the one that is set by Fr. McShane and Grank that will count for Pecora. We started so far down, my expectations for next year will probably be less than others on this Board but they will jump for Gaston's senior year.

There are expectations, and there are goals. We shouldn't accept the fact that every incoming coach should get 5 years to "Turn things around." Why? Because many other schools have turned it around much quicker within two recruiting classes. Yeah, I've heard all of the arguments that it can't be done because of all of the Fordham Drag characteristics that we're had to live with over the last 25 years. But that is Fordham, and it shouldn't be us us and it doesn't have to be the team. TP looks like he's doing his job; our goal should be at least a winning season next year.

Goals or expectations - the Administration still doesn't set them very high. They will give TP his 5 years to turn things around. I agree a goal of a .500 season (plus at least 4 wins in the A10 and making the off season) is a good goal but I don't expect a winning season. I do think we should get at least 4 wins in the A10 and make the tournament.

Methinks that is a steep hill to climb, SS.

Sports blogs often confuse stupidity with edginess. Just because I can call someone a name, doesn’t mean I’m insightful, or tough and edgy. It just means I’m a jerk. It’s a high tech place for what idiots used to do on bar stools, in school yards, and on gas station bathroom walls. - Bob Costas
