Seriously, are you deranged?  This one guy "wants to take the A-10 to a new level".   I  mean what the hell kind of a comment is that?  Is he Michael Jordan?  The A-10 has been a high level for a long time and this kid will have no effect whatsoever on changing the confernece. Good god. These kids are totally and completely delusional. Hopefully he comes in and is a good, serviceable A-10 player.  Taking the A-10 to a new level?  Lord have mercy the delusions on these kids.  Or at least, the delusions of the people like this clown stating that.

Hellooooo......A-10 had Jameer Nelson, the national player of the year and a 1st round pick, have you heard of Xavier and Richmond and that team in Philly, Temple?

This X Box world in which you live, please exit it.

At-ease bro. Probably meant wants to take Fordham to the next level in the A-10.

Well, '85, don't hang the kid off a comment reported second hand by a poster.

And we should be of good cheer. I have a feeling the elder Fay is a late bloomer, who seems to have put in a lot of work to build up his physique and get ready for college ball. The younger Fay might become one of those "high major" players we talk so much about having to recruit.  Pecora is working one of his traditional recruiting grounds -- the New England Prep Schools -- and getting kids to sign on with Fordham. Now it's up to the kids and coach to put in the work to make it succeed.

These kids aren't delusional they are Teenagers. 16,17, and 18 Year olds say all kinds of crazy stuff just like I'm sure you said crazy stuff at that age. There just wasn't anyone taking video of you and posting it on Youtube. I really wish those videos of you at that age did exist to see how you would stack up against these kids that you are so hard on.

Videos of me?  ha.....hey, Im still going strong at 46 having captained team NYC at the World Ice Arena Championships last summer. Who needs old videos!  Bring it right now!  Ill try and find a YouTube.  Feel free to come and skate with us. In fact, we will be taking the ice at 9 15 tonight in Long Beach, be my guest. I guarantee there were more guys playing with us last summer that will sign or have signed pro contracts than there are on this basketball team that will play profesisonally. Thats for damn sure.

But Im not making the quotes here. These type of quotes or paraphrases of quotes are compeltely delusional commentary from a subculture that is embarassing. Oh wait, didnt Air Mistakah say he was going to come and average 30 points a game?  How did he do in the A-10 last year?  How close was he to 30 points?

Take the A-10 to a new level, oh god these guys are delusional.

John, my comment was of course directed at the guy who posted the comment, not at the player.

I love the double standard here. If a kid at SJU or a recruit to SJU or Iona makes an idiotic comment or has idiotic comments attributed to him, people rip it to shreds. When its one of our recruits, he is just a kid, a teenager, yeah....just like only our guys dont qualify because of   crazy clearinghouse snafus that are soley unique to Fordham but when guys dont qualify at other schools, they recruit bad kids who dont belong in college......get real.

Wait, quote Genn Batemon is coming here "to put Fordham on the map"   yeah, how did that work out Glenn?

Every time someone associated with Jio Fontan or with the Zagoria Grasso made a comment , it got ripped to shreds. But now, hey, relax, its just a kid, relax.........pathetic double standard here........

Let's not lose track of what is important.

Welcome to Fordham Jared Fay

I hope that you and your brother have a great career and play well for Fordham.

Now for the rest of the comments made by Jared, videographers and our posters. The A10 is on the map and has been for some time.  Fordham is not on the map and if the Fay brothers can help put us on the map the alumni will be pumped.

Like any place else in the world people judge you on what you accomplish and are skeptical of anyone who makes big statements.  Keep your nose to the grindstone and get ready to help the team next season

Sports blogs often confuse stupidity with edginess.  Just because I can call someone a name, doesn’t mean I’m insightful, or tough and edgy.  It just means I’m a jerk.  It’s a high tech place for what idiots used to do on bar stools, in school yards, and on gas station bathroom walls.

If Jared is a scholarship player, then we have 6 ships in the class of 15.  That's a lot.  And assuming that Moquette is leaving, we only have Gaston in the class of 13.  Not great balance.

No one said the comments aren't ridiculous. They should just be ignored considering the age of the sources. Not something to get worked up over. Not sure what any of this has to do with your Hockey coaching exploits.

If I'm a head coach whose 5-year deal expires with the Class of 15, I think I want to plan to enter that campaign with a senior-laden team.

In the space of a year, Pecora has basically turned over his entire roster. The only two DW remnants on next year's team will be Gaston, an A-10 star, and Estwick, who's at least useful.  And based on the video, Jared Fay looks to be in monster shape. Seems like the kind of kid who wants badly to succeed. We need some of those kids.

I believe that Khiry Gordon is still on the roster, but I do get your point.  We should have a lot more depth next year.  Hopefully, it will be quality depth.

Relax, I'm sure he means Fordham... The kid is 16 he is probably somewhat excited, let him be. I'm sure he reads this blog and seeing you're own fans "talking trash" about a kid who will likely develop into a high MAJOR player, I imagine would be a MAJOR turn off. Be positive not a downer. Nobody wants to play for a school that talks trash about a kid 2 or 3 years before he even gets to the school.

This is an absurd use of a scholarship and an awful signing. We sign a kid who had no other DI offers in order to get a verbal from his brother in class of 2013? Anyone who sees this otherwise is not being objective about this. Here are the schools we competed with:

Team                    Offer  Status
Fordham                Yes    Verbal Commitment
^Bentley (D-II)      Yes    None
^Merrimack (D-II)  Yes    None
^New Haven (D-II) Yes    None

Is Jared Fay an A-10 talent?

If Jared Fay is not getting a scholarship, I retract this comment.

I believe Ronald Nored of Butler had no other Div I offers either out of high school. He could be on my team any day.

So don't write the kid off before he gets here.

- he looks as tough as nails and will only get bigger and stronger than he is now;
- pure gym rat (no pun intended);
- his younger brother will keep him motivated at a high level;
- probably has something to prove and will be chippy about it;

We're getting some strong bodies in here now. No more easy buckets down the middle.

Maybe he's the "glue" guy we need.

I have to go with TP's judgment here. He has discovered under the radar guards in the past. I'll wait until next season to see how his next recruiting class performs before criticizing.

All those things may be true but we need players who can step in and contribute right away.  He doesn't sound like he's there.  Butler can afford to take a flyer on a project.  I don't think Fordham can...

RAM71 - this statement surprises me coming from you.  Why would you post this before you know if he has a scholarship or not?  It certainly can't help us in any way.

Rambacker, I did note that I will retract my comment if he is not getting a scholarship and I will certainly be glad to do that. I initially thought he was a preferred walk-on but it is looking as if he is a scholarship player. i guess we will know for sure when the LOIs are signed next week.

I was hoping the final scholarship would be used on one of the transfers from SIU or SHU.

ok i see i stirred up some things let me clear up... he meant take make fordham a stronger team in the A-10 if im not mistaken they didnt have a stellar year he believes he can and would love to do it along side his brother.... Jake is a legit 6'5 sg with great athletics and a "ray allen like" release no exaggeration if he blossoms into what everyone believes he will he is an absolute steal no one has a crystal ball but its certainly worth the chance. Jared is a late bloomer even d2's were late in offering him which is ridiculous  the whole starting line up at his hs are d1 scholarship players, he may not earn alot of time right away but is an asset and great kid watch and see....

Thank you. I thought Banegas would have been an interesting recruit for us.

In your opinion, why was the Brimmer and May record not as good as expected?

I'm somewhat confused here. (At my age that's not that unusual.)  I looked at our roster for 2011-2012 and see the following:

Alberto Estwick   Sr.  G
Kervin Bristol       Sr.  C
Khiry Gordon       Sr. F

Chris Gaston       Jr. F
Rayner Moquete  Jr. G

Brendan Frazier   So. G
Lamount Samuell So. G
Marvin Dominique So. F

Devon McMillan   Fr. G
Jeff Short          Fr. G
Bryan Smith       Fr. G
Ryan Canty       Fr.  C
Luka Zivcovic    Fr.  F/G

This totals 13 Scholarships.  How does Jared Fay Fr. G sign on unless he is a walkon or unless Gordon or Moquete are leaving?

One other question.  Are the number of players with F (for Forward) after their name scarce?

Our track record with these ultra early verbals has not been too good. Diggs, Sasha II, Sidibe, Obrzut, Air Jamaica, James, Armand, Lawhorn, et al. Has anyone who verballed early ever actually ended up playing for us?

I think you have to throw Sidibe, Air Jamaica, James, Armand, Lawhorn out the window, since they verballed to a program that underwent drastic changes by the time they were actually ready to enroll.  Now that there's a bit more stability, we'll have to see how these early verbals work out.
