Some recruit who has speed was meeting with Breiner and/or was commiting.

Thanks!  That's why I have no interest in Twitter!   Cheesy

Yeah PI or holding on about every play.  I hope all of these wideouts were SEC bound talent.
Or he plays much better in games.

Roberts is listed as SS/OLB but the video is of him covering from a position he's likely not to be in much.  Based on his size, I'm hoping the staff sees him as an OLB who can help stop the run. If he can do that, I for one can live with less than perfect cover skills😄

George Young famously said a lot of guys look good in shorts (I guess some can look bad too). When it came to evaluating a player GY focused on his production in a game. Take a peek at this vid of Roberts and tell me what you think now

Just as a quick side note .... that indoor practice facility that Roberts was videotaped at is becoming a fairly common facility at high schools where I live.  They are usually 60-70 yards and a full width.  They make a big difference for a program where heat and cold weather factor into the quality of practices.

I bring it up because I expect our FCS competitors to be adding them more quickly in the coming years; so it is another item in the arms race to compete in the FCS.

That makes sense and hope you are right.
I still would like to see us get bigger and stronger and place more emphasis on the O-Line.  I get speed kills but big guys lso beat up little guys.

Awesome news.  I agree with Chaka that we need help on both sides of the lines.  Looks like we have a few good ones in this class, although it's small.  Too bad we lost the OL to Dartmouth.  Understandable that we lost one to the Ivies, though.

I watched some video of several of these guys and there's an aggressiveness from guys like Jean, Roberts & Ware that is awesome imo.  I'm don't like putting much weight on HS highlight films but I still remember one that stood out in the past few years as the most fun to watch for how aggressive he was, was Niko Thorpe's.  Those 3 guys in this year's class showed a love of hitting that reminded me of Thorpe's footage.

I don't know enough about the guy but this is the profile of the players we want to sign -- good enough to get a serious look from an FBS school but who, for whatever reason, slips through and falls to FCS.

John Piccinich    DL  6-4  235  Old Tappan  NJ    Committed to: Fordham :

        (Senior Year Highlights)

http://www.msgvarsity.com/2015-all-metro-football-second-team-1.1760010
The sturdy two-way lineman helped launch of the more explosive offenses in New Jersey at guard, but did his best work on the side of the ball for the 12-0 Golden Knights. Piccinich compiled 88 tackles (nine in the North 1, Group 4 final) and was in on 16 sacks. -

I follow our assistant coaches as well as Coach B on twitter and there seemed to be some references to us adding some recruits over the past few weeks.  Anyone hear of anything definitive they can share?  Thanks

Yes and no ...  I was at JCF on Friday and talked to the Head Coach.  AB confirmed that they landed some terrific players; but he was not permitted to say their names.  He sounded genuinely excited about the talent though.

On twitter....when the coaches say "we added SPEED" ... that is their signal that someone gave them a commitment.  It sounded like some more guys from Ohio if I'm putting the pieces together.

BTW .... we had about 250 prospects in camp between Thursday and Friday. Based on what I saw on Friday ... and then the group I saw at West Point on Saturday, we had more size and speed in camp than WP did. West Point was an exclusive camp, ours was multi-school.  A surprising percentage of the kids at Army seemed to have WP as their top choice.  Many were legacy kids with their dads.

Our camp population seemed to include more "free agents;" open to the best offer.  That's why I think we had more size and speed than WP.

Thanks guys... he did.

And we are fortunate to have a smart, energetic, dedicated coaching staff. Joe Davis, the new QB coach from Northern Iowa is a real pro, and the balance of the group are terrific. It's a staff with a great deal of geographic spread now. I think the guys we get from outside NY will increasingly thrive and stick in the program.

He posted a tweet with a nice photo from the camp.
