I'm with Rich93 here.  I think 8 OOC wins and 4 A-10 wins is our benchmark for success this year.  Making the A-10 tourney is a must as well.  I think TP2 has the coaching acumen and the tools to get us there.

What we've really tried to do all of these years is find someone to replace Bev -- and we haven't.  Either they showed up with great promise, then imploded (Smush), or lacked a complete game (K. Anderson), or whatever (take your pick). With Bev, we had someone who controlled the court, making it his domain. If we have anything like that again -- even just in the ballpark -- together with the apparent big overall increase in our guard quality, this is gonna be pretty interesting bros. I'm thinking a shocker or two -- maybe even on the road.

The BIG question is whether the boys in maroon and Coach P can "recover" from the blow of being relegated to the Izod, when Frank pulls another boner and sends us to play 4 games there, destroying home court advantage.     That will determine how many games we win.

Obviously no one in their right mind is in favor of games at the izod, but I'm really not sure it has a difference in the win/loss column. Perhaps a bit overdone?

I disagree completely.  There is no way in hell that we beat ST. Johns if it is at the IZOD center.  Controversely, I think we would have beaten St. Joes and St. Louis if the game was at Rose Hill.  B2 is right, every move Frank makes works against this program.  He IS Fordham drag.

I do not think this places the St. Johns game in the good chance to win category but our chances just got a little better since 3 of its 9 recruits were declared inneligible to play the first semester, Amir Garrett, JaKarr Sampson  and Norvel Pelle.  The earliest they will be eligible is December 19, 2 days after we play them in the Garden.

I sure hope we can make it to the season without any hits by the clearinghouse.

Had lunch earlier this week with my niece, an assistant coach for Seattle U.'s womens team. She says the NCAA Clearinghouse is the bane of coaches everywhere. If a kid or his/her parents haven't submitted complete information, it becomes a real chore to set things right, she tells me.  She said her team's brought in 5 freshmen this year, and she's spend hundreds of hours in the office, mastering clearinghouse rules and checking up on application status, to get them cleared. I can only imagine it's much worse for mens' teams, since the players are more likely to have jumped from school to school during their HS years.

I think what they are saying is that they have made it through the clearinghouse and deemed eligible to play.  I think once you are through that is it so it would appear that as long as they do the work at Fordham they will be in uniform and ready to play.  That plus no IZOD means another year of season tickets for me.

Are we sure that there is no Izod?  I thought that the article last week made it seem that Pecora didn't want it, but Frank might make it happen anyways. Sad Undecided Cry Embarassed

Yeah, I am not so sure either.  I think that as of now there is no IZOD as per the schedule that has been released, but I would not be surprised if something changes at a later date, perhaps even after tickets go on sale.  They then will announce it as a positive change, something like, "we are pleased to announce...".

Right now, the schedule is out.  Pecora had a lot to do with that.  Any changes, made now, are all 100% on Frank.  That's why the schedule came out.

This will cause a riff and quite frankly , we need a riff to expose Frank as the clown that he is.

"riff" would be a great word combination (wombination) of "tiff" and "rift," if it wasn't already a musical term . . .   Wink

The guy is an incompetent phony who has kept his job by being a do nuttin' yes man and suck up sycophant to The Men in Black.

They can't see through his act because they don't want to see through his act.

Absolutely, 85.

The b - ball schedule is out early, and the only reason it is out early is because of Coach Pecora.

Frank has outlived his uselessness as the Director of Athletics on Rose Hill, and must be replaced if our sports program is to achieve any meaningful significance on even a local level, much less a national one.

The Men in Black should be selecting that gold watch, right now !

This is an outstanding job by Pecora.  If Frank and Co. want to perpetuate what was a bad idea they have to be willing to stand in front of the bus unlike in the past where they would blame someone else.

Look, the IZOD is obviously dead in Pecora's eyes.  Logically, if it is a boon to recruiting as Frank claims, well the schedule is out and its not on there so that purported benefit is functionally eviscerated .

I know, broken record, but guys like Jim O'Connell are the truest of Frank apologists who are so detrimental  to everyone's efforts. We have to get rid of guys like this from having any input or infleunce. They need to be exposed as Frank apologists. Shameless  that Bob Ahrens not only allowed that first interview but that he invited him back for another one at  a halftime after all the blatant inaccuracies were pointed out ad nauseum.

Jim O'Connell deserves to be hanging( metaphorically )  right next to his wife's jersey. Make sure to ask Pecora about O'Connell's illogical, flawed and in my view completely bogus account of how we ended up at IZOD. A 5 year old can google the articles and confirm that we had deals in place long before Pecora was the coach. ...

That's the point. Now the schedule is out. And Pecora has made his feelings known. So a change here is all on Frank. Well played by Pecora.

Pec's not the first coach to publicly call out his administration at FU.  Hope he fares better than the others and finally slays the McGrank dragon.

At last season's recap reception (in late March sometime, I think), Pec said we'd play at Izod this season.  Glad he 180d on his earlier over-the-top Izod comments.  There may have been some arrangements made with Izod that we don't want to pay to break?  I'm not convinced that the A10 did not have a hand in our Izod arrangements.

My season ticket renewel form is normally mailed to me in early september.  I'm guessing the reason it's late is because the Izod situation is up in the air.  I'll be really dissapointed if we have a game there, and discusted if we have more than one game there.

I'm throwing out my prediction of 9-10 wins. If the Buffalo Bills can do what they're doing with a bunch of high rounders and undrafted free agents mixed in with their established players, we too can rise above expectations and have a good -- maybe even surprising season. The Bills said they'd be good and nobody listened. Well, guess what? They are. And that's despite all the bitchin' about a too small market (in our case gym) and a too cheap owner (in our case clueless admin.). Well, I'm inspired enough to Bill-ieve in our revamped Rams.

Upping it to 12 wins bros. Some of you have been saying our young guys are really good, so I'm going with it. Then bigger and better things next season to give Chris the senior send-off he deserves.

I noticed that the Men's BB team plays a 16-game A-10 conference schedule (they play 3 teams twice), while the Women's BB team plays a 14-game A-10 schedule (the ladies play 1 team twice and add 2 more OOC games).  Does anyone know the reasoning for the disparity?

The Wooden Award pre-season watch list was announced.  The 50 players on the list include Holloway of Xavier and of Nicholson of St. Bona, as well as Glover of Iona.

http://www.woodenaward.com/?p=1105

Although Gaston was not on the list, he and the Rams are mentioned by Andy Katz of ESPN.

"Chris Gaston, Fordham: The Rams aren't any good, but the nation's leading returning rebounder (11.3 rpg) at least deserves a shout-out in this space."
