ace,
I took the wink as a little jab directed towards the idea of us not having any interest in majok if the situation ever presented itself and i have no idea where he is anymore but I would be interested in him if available.

Got ya.  The wink was b/c he was not coming here either way since he did not qualify at Fairfield.

Someone posted on him recently in the recruiting thread.  He is at some JC, putting up good numbers, drawing some good interest, but not signed anywhere yet.

his problem is that he has birth certificate issues in his native country and I do not know if they were ever solved.

Other than Machado(I love the pass first PGs), Armand is my favorite player on Iona. Up until recently, Cluess had a quick trigger with Armand. He misses a shot, here comes the sub. Armand is 1 of the best shooters in college ball and has carried us at times. Love this kid. He and Momo should be the best backcourt in the MAAC next year

Tough to see how the committee could take them since they failed to make the finals of the 18th ranked conference in the nation.  the one thing they have going for them is that the bubble is very weak.  They should be happy that Creighton came back to beat Illinois St. saved an at large bid for them.

Yeah NIT bound.  Disappointing end to a sometimes wonderful season.  All the credit to FF, who played a great game.  I love Sidney Johnson, his demeanor and intelligence.

Armand 31 mins 1-5 shooting and 1 rebound.  Conngael was this the result of fairfield d or did the staff do a bad job of getting him the ball or did he play poorly?

Armand?  Didn't think he played poorly, FF is the best defensive team in the MAAC.  They play excellent perimeter defense.  They also had an incredible shooting day and we had a hard time getting any real separation.  Really had a hard time opening things up.  Down the stretch guys like Glover and Randy Dezouvre tried to do too much on a few possessions and we got sideways.  Didn't run our offense.  FF is a VG defensive team and well coached.  If they shoot 59% like they did today, awfully hard to beat them.

Ya, Iona had their shot.  Didn't get it done.  Very nice year but they came up short.   Still, I'd take the NIT at this point...

In the games I watched Iona play, your defense was pathetic. It looks like you guys got killed on the boards today, bad defense plus poor rebounding looks to be the reason Fairfield shot 59%. It is easy to have a great shooting game under those conditions.  I wish this game had been on TV, I definitely would have watched.   Undecided

Yeah we got killed on the boards.  The defense wasn't horrible.  FF just made their shots.

Iona had a good shot at winning a game in the dance, Fairies no way.  Not an Iona fan but would have rooted for them.  CG, how did this happen?  Curse of the NY Times perhaps, yesterday had a fearture article re. Glover.  Not exactly a student athlete.  Schools, years, etc this guy is the epitome of an academic underachiever if there ever was one.  Will he actually graduate?

Very obnoxious. Rude. It is no one's business about his progression in school.
Rams need someone that is half the player. Take your graduation rates and, well,...whatever.

Agree with the rude part and it not being our business, but disagree that we need someone who is half the player. That's precisely our problem, we have a lot of players that are half the player.

Yes he will graduate, and wants to provide for his two year old son.  He's been nothing but a class act at Iona. I think he's grown up quite a bit since he was recruited by Seton Hall.

A question: will Iona be playing at the Barc
next season?

A rhetorical question: had Fairfield beaten Loyola
would the Greyhounds be invited to the NIT?

Why rhetorical?  It much would have depended on what other teams did, but they did not win the regular season title, so there is no guarantee.  I lean towards yes, but with Iona getting into the NIT as the regular season champ, I don't know if there is room for two MAAC teams in a 32 team field.

Haven't heard that we'll play in Brooklyn. Have heard we're playing Rutgers at MSG, of course now that Machado and Glover won't be there.  We should get our ___ handed to us.

Loyola to the NIT as an at-large?  I think the Hounds had something like an 80 RPI.  Very good team and probably would have deserved it, but the NIT is very political.  Iona had a 68 RPI last year and didn't get invited. If Loyola did get an invite, probably would've been sent to play a BCS school.  The question is what happens to FF?  Maybe CIT or CBA tournaments?

As a Westchester resident, had no problem getting behind Gaels.  AN enjoyable team to watch, and look forward to them being MoMo's team next year.  But a team with flaws- no size, no D and if they don't hit shots- Fairfield beats them!  But as I have posted earlier, would love to be in their position: maybe no at-large (shame) and NIT, maybe make a run with some home games.  20 plus wins and some big wins- UMD, Nevada (saw that game Wolfpack did not impress save one player from Poland), and went on road if they could not find anyone to come to New Roc.  But no facility arguments, focus on getting it done on court, transfers fine.  Not around Iona so can't speak for their fans, but we get caught up in a lot of b.s.  We have right to be frustrated, so I will leave it at that. Sum it up, I will steal from Ace: 1 AD, 3 decades, 1 NCAA appearance.  No idea where my college-era Strunk & White is, so reference will have to do!  Also feeling generous today, so Nick's 1991 squad (of the St. Francis play-in, no auto bid) also gets a pass- should have been NCAA team.

So next year back on Rams wagon and will root for Manhattanville down the street- prob DIII, but who cares.  And just a plug: everyone cheer on Bevon Robin's Tuckahoe HS- in state playoffs now! (he is asst coach)  Nice team, 2 major players and scrappy pg (does not shoot like Bev).
