Congratulations to Chris Gaston for getting named to the 2nd Team.  Well deserved.

We did not receive any other awards.  I was hoping Bristol would make the all-defensive team, but unfortunately that did not happen.  That nobody else got an award shows that we have a very long way to go.  We might be one of the youngest teams in the NCAA, but our youngsters are not very good right now or so the A10 coaches feel.

Well deserved recognition of talent and effort.

Let's hope Chris gets to play in an A-10 tournament before he graduates.

Congrats to CG- our lone bright spot.  when your team is giving up 90 plus in consective losses and it's last 4 losses are in the neighborhood of 20, 20, 26, and 20, I'd find it ridiculous to give a defendive award to anyone of this team. FU has a very long way to go. Last I looked, " one of the youngest teams in the NCAA" is a cop out. St. John's graduated  11 seniors and  still won 13 games this season, including 6 league wins, in a much better conference with 5 freshman. This  FU team should have grown up by now instead of hearing coach Pec's  lame, self serving excuses on why they lose games in overtime and the like!

Steve Lavin recruited the Number 3 recruiting class in the country last year.

I'd settle for the number three class in the A-10!

Yeh, I'd say that'll be a step in the right direction.

I thought he might have a chance at 1st team earlier this season, but 2nd team seems appropriate.  Congrats to Chris Gaston.

I thought I would mention something here that crossed my mind last night as I was reading the A10 awards thread on the A10 board.  Gaston finished the season averaging 17.1 points and 9.9 rebounds.  This is the first season he has finished with less than an 11 rebound average.  He was 4 rebounds short of averaging 10, having finished with 276 rebounds in 28 games.  I think that when it comes to rebounds it really falls on your own shoulders and not so much the team.  At the same time, if your team begins to rebound better as some of our players did, it does take rebounds away from you too.

That said, Gaston can only blame himself for this one.  I love his game, enjoy watching him play more than any player since Bryant Dunston, but this one is squarely on him.  He finished the first URI game with 2 rebounds, but would have had at least 4 more had he not been tossed.

BTW, I will add that as a freshman Gaston went for 18 & 11.4, as a sophomore for 15.9 & 11.3 and this year for 17.1 & 9.9, as I mentioned.  As a freshman he was Rookie of the Year, but did not make one of the 3 teams or honorable mention. As a soph he got honorable mention.  This year, as we now know, he got 2nd team.  If Chris can learn to channel his emotions, next year he finishes with even better numbers, a 1st Team selection, a shot at Player of the Year and possibly leaves Fordham as the leading scorer in school history.

First congratulations to Chris on being named second team all conference.

ACE if he wants to make first team he needs to work on three things:  1.  Recognizing and passing out of the double team; 2.  Mid range jump shot; and 3.  Defense.

His teamates will also have to improve their play for this happen.  Last place teams whose guards do not shoot well or defend rarely produce a forward on the first team all conference because the forward needs the guards to compliment his play.

Lets hope everyone holds up their end next year and really get this program moving forward.

I agree with what you say simply b/c all he needs to finish on the 1st team is that the team finish within the top half of the A10.  His numbers on a better team are 1st team material even if nothing else changes in his game.  These coaches are not putting that much thought into these awards.

It wound help tremendously if we gave him the ball in better spots and if our guards would MOVE when he got the ball, rather than stand in cement shoes watching and waiting.

Speak for yourself, because you don't know if the earth is round or flat! Just because I'm not some coach Pec apologist like you and Dutch doesn't mean I don't post the truth. If you're not smart enough and thats quite obvious to see this ship is sailing in the wrong direction, don't make personal attacks on me. The numbers speak the truth and again, you and Dutch aren't just not smart enough to understand that!

A lot of people, including myself, believe some o fthe negatives that you mention about TP.  However, you take it personally with him.  I also think that you take pride in getting under people's skin.  I am not a TP apologist, and am smart enough to know that this ship might indeed be sinking.  I just wish you were smart enough to realize that you are not wonted on this forum because you are abnoxious.  I am sure you will respond with your usual worthless drivel, but I'm through with you.  Don't expect a response.
