It's the off season for active competition at Fordham, so let's vote for your favorite keyboard artist!

The voting for this poll should never end.  That way we avoid the acceptance speech.  Can you imagine?!

I am guilty as charged.    I am locquacious.  But you missed a few other 'sinners' as well.

And to be fair, there are other contests you can run.   To be "totally inclusive" and nobody feels left out.      Cheesy Cheesy

I blame it all on a Jesuit education.   And not being a business/finance/accounting major.     Evil

Also guilty as charged, but I have a question.  How can you judge a long post as being "best" if "you don't spend the time to actually read [it]?"

Hahaha!  That's funny.  But I think you've got a good idea there.  My choice who is also the leader would take up pages upon pages of valuable space with all the tangents and non sequiturs he throws about.  He interjects tidbits of worthless information about himself in almost every long-winded post - that is why I stopped reading them.

Why do you assume they are all men?

I assumed there was a woman or two among them based on how long some of the menopausal rants sounded.

My bad I guess....sorry

Brevity is the soul of wit.

Yeah. But sometimes brevity is just a shot in the dark and lacks character and depth.

I presume you've given up on this so I will provide the answer to what my post was about.

It's an extremely short poem, composed of a single one-syllable word (the indefinite article "A") which consists of one letter.

By taking the "brevity" concept to its logical extreme and not providing any reference for the indefinite article, I was first making a comment on the absurdity of the cliché given other equally or more important considerations for effective communication.  You proved that point nicely by guessing first that I was grading your post, and then that this might be the first in a series of letters.  Neither of those was correct, though both were reasonable guesses.

As a secondary point, I was illustrating that (in the spirit of the cliché and this thread which specifically deals with ranking), if brevity is indeed "the soul of wit", then the briefest textual post must therefore be the wittiest.

I can't say that it is definitely the wittiest but I think it was certainly your best!

Why try and top it?  Quit while ahead.
